NBD: Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass

@MovingPitchers I believe, at least in the electric guitar world, 250K is for single coils while 500K is for humbuckers. If you run 500 with singles, they won't be as bright and can be muddy and not in a good way. So, I would think that a 500 for a bass single (even though the P is a split single) would maybe give is "bigger punch and bottom end".

Great, now I've got a reason to order a quantity of 500K pots... Of course, I do have a Fender blacktop (humbuckers) and I'm sure those pots are 500.

Well, a P-Bass split-coil is essentially a humbucker, hence the fattier and punchier tone compared to single coils and I figured to give it a little more juice, a 500K would do the trick.

Hm. No wonder my bass has a lot of low end. I've been trying to dial in the perfect amount of high mids and highs for weeks but eh.

Love Squires. I picked up a VM Bass VI a few years ago, the quality and fun led me to a Parts bass with a 51 CV neck on a Squire Dirnt body with major upgrades to the bridge and electronics. Also picked up a VM 72 Tele bass as a $150 Craig's List score. it's a player, too!

i love the neck on mine so much id probably do something similar, got my eye on a dee dee ramone body.

It's an awesome bass, but still, my heart cries out for an MIA......
Yeah, I went & looked at a consignment Fender MIM Jazz to swap out the Jag, but there was very little difference between the 2 in quality. Sadly, my Squier had a better neck,,so I kept my Jag & $250 difference,,,for now,,,,I do like the P/J sound better anyway, I am holding out for a fender jazz blacktop series,

I purchased and played a few Squiers in the recent past to see for myself if 'the buzz' about them was true. With the VM Jag, CV50 and 60 precision, my only nit-pick was the nuts. Too cheap and too high, but easily remedied. Wonderful instruments, IMO. You'll get that MIA eventually!

Hi, is this an affinity or vm?

Before the VMs and CVs were introduced, the Standards were the top of the Squier line. IF the price is right it is work a look, i liked the sound of the pickups in the standards I have played, And my "Travesty Bass" Pictured below is a Squier Standard series body with an Affinity neck. Electronics are stock and sound great!
