Hello, everyone!
I recently purchased a Squier by Fender Contemporary bass guitar and am trying to determine its exact model.
The serial number is A011371, which allows me to date it to approximately 1985–1986 (FujiGen Gakki, Japan).
Here are the detailed specifications of my bass guitar...

new to TalkBass so let me know if I am doing this wrong.
I picked this up a couple weeks ago dirt cheap and honestly bought it with the intentions to flip or give to a family member as I do not need another bass. But, something about this bass is making it hard to get rid of... sounds great...
I have a fender squier vintage modified jaguar bass body in great/near perfect condition. No scratches or flaws, and the finish its bright and clear. This is the the full scale body , NOT the short scale. I bought it for a project that fell through.

Finding myself P bass heavy, and this one should not be getting ignored!
Considering finding this sweet player a new home.

This is a 2010 Squier by Fender Vintage Modified Precision Bass Neck. It has very minor blemishes (nicks/dings/scuffs), but not very noticeable. It is one very nice neck and very stout. Frets are in fantastic shape and are smooth on the edges.

I have a Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass V for sale.
The bass is in near perfect condition (see pics). The bass plays great, and is currently strung with D'Addario Chromes flatwounds and it sounds smooth as butter. (But also sounds great with roundwounds too!)

I recently bought a Squier Vintage Modified Precision PJ bass, in sunburst with black pickguard. I'd like to put a red tort guard on there, but am not sure where to get one that will fit. I checked on WDMusic (where I have bought replacement guards for non-bass guitars), but they don't seem to...
That's my choice for a second "first" bass (I played in bands twenty years ago but have barely touched the instrument since then). Tried both and both play fine. I prefer the VM in pretty much every way but the thing that's making me think twice is that I've heard the new Chinese Squiers are...
A friend put together a bass for me, it's a Korean Squier-II Maple neck with an Agathis Vintage Modified body. They fit together like a hand and a good driving glove, Alnico V PJ pups, killswitch in the pop-up tone pot (vvt). Nice bass, like it a lot.
But what is meant by "Vintage Modified"...
SQUIER VINTAGE MODIFIED JAZZ BASS - FRETLESS
In Very Good condition- nice burst. Only reason not Excellent condition is one small nick on the bottom side of the headstock. Hard to see, but highlighted in the photos with a very poorly drawn yellow circle. The tone pot had tiny hint of...

I am totally having a blast with this bass. After designing high output pickups for this baby she really began to shine. Check out the video link below. FYI I have a small indie pickup company in Brooklyn.
What mods have you made to you VM Bass VI I am looking for ideas.
A nice specimen here.
I just found this on a deal at a local
Samash yesterday.
I got it set up pretty well, except
It seems to have a low 12th fret and buzzes just at fret 12 on 3 of 5 strings. No other issues. Im
Sure a half way competent tech could
Fix it in 10 minutes but I dont want to...

I wrote about buying a VM Bass VI in another thread. I must say aside from the cheap-o hardware; saddle screws coming out after 2 hours of hard play and having to adjust the neck a few times because it would bow back after a day or so, I love it!!

Hello!
I'm new to the forum. I'm a guitar player, but I dabble a bit on bass.
Thing is, I got a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '70s... you can see it here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/squier-vintage-modified-jazz-bass-70s
But the neck's messed up, I believe. It was very tough to...
Update 3.28.18: I had custom wound pickups from Sound Laboratories made for this bass. I wanted a growly 4003 Rickenbackeresque sound. DoooOOoood! What an improvement. The sound is incredible. I would describe the sound as beefy, thick, clear as a bell and totally has a Ric growl. It's...
SOLD!
It all works beautifully, but I had a custom neck built for the body and this needs to go. $140 for all of it shipped to the lower 48 paypal accepted.

For $299.00 I was thinking of getting one , like to hear about them if you have any experience with it please , will the P pickup pretty much sound like a P bass would if you roll the Jazz off , didn't know if it was placed in a different position in the body than a P only bass ? My only...
