NBD: Squier VM Precision!

I've got one of these, probably my favorite bass I have played other than the G&L tribute I'm picking up next week. I have it strung with Rotosound 66s and the vintage rock tones I get out of it are astounding. The neck is absolute butter, there is nothing better than that maple neck and the body is nice and light.

Picked this 2007 up last week at a pawn shop that was going out of business. Got it for $95 and the best part it has a jazz style neck that is only 1 and 1/2 inches wide. Very impressed with it

Hi guys, I'm looking to get a cheapP/J bass and after some rearch it lools like Squier VM might be my best option.

I'm looking for a bass with a P neck and I intend to put a set of flats on it. I'm mostly going to be playing soul and r'n'b.

Is there a bass in this pricerange that you would recommend over the Squier VM?

No, unfortunately but, there a ton of them out there on the used market for fairly reasonable prices

I just picked up one of the Squier VM P/J basses last week. Haven't had a chance to play it with my band yet but so far it sounds great by itself. Hopefully it sounds good in the mix too.

First impressions are that the P pups sound great and so do the P and J pups together. The J pickup by itself is kinda meh. I'll be looking to upgrade at least the J pickup down the line and maybe both.

So far it's a great sounding bass for the $$. I'll post some pics in a separate thread soon.

I bought a used VM P a month ago from my fren, strung with Fender 9050L and done a setup , nice playing bass. The sound of DD pup is really fantastic when play alone, just not well in mix to me.
After couple week, i return it to my friend and stay my love with Cv 60P.
Actually i found it cheap & try to keep one maple fretboard P bass myself. But, finally i personally still prefer overall feeling, tone and vintage fret from my nice CV 60P.

I love that color combo--think that's my favorite for p-basses. Nice find. A lot of bass for little money.

Mine has a solid spot in the rotation, had it out with the new Cabronita a couple of weeks ago.
