NBD: Valenti #146

I waited and I waited. I paid hefty customs fees. But now, now I own this beauty.

What can I say? This bass is stunning. As soon as I took it out of the case I was surprised at how light it was. The finish allows me to see the beautiful ash grain underneath and the Sadowsky preamp speaks for itself (although I'm still trying to get to grips with it. Less is more it seems). After a quick string change and a slight adjustment to lower the action it's playing pretty nice for a bass that came across the ocean! Only flaw is that the casing of the neck pickup is cracked but it's only noticeable by me when I'm playing it.

Nice. I love trans-white. Not mad on the tort though, I think the black plate looks much better. A clear perspex plate would look even better though, with a finish as nice as that it's a shame to hide a lot of it :)

Have them send you a new pickup casing.

I have a tort guard on my white bass - but somehow the black looks better on yours - maybe due to the shade of white in contrast to the black.

Congrats!

Thanks all. It's staying tort for the moment but I think it's only cos I've never had a tort guard before.

I actually emailed Aguilar to see if I could buy replacement covers and they offered to send me a new set but when they found out I was in the UK it changed things. They're gonna get back to me on Monday and let me know if they can help me out.

Love having a jazz that has a 21st fret. My stingray has just become obsolete!
