NBD!

Oh my! That does look sweet! But my trifecta will be complete Monday, when I pick this up at the PO:

Not nearly as awesome as that red Taylor! Wanted a Hohner like this since I saw someone playing one 15-20 years ago, he was getting great sounds out of it.

Well, according to the first link, he played with Fletcher Henderson's orchestra (as did a lot of guys from that era), but I know him from his work with Ahmad Jamal, which is really worth listening to.
I recognize Ahmad Jamal's name, don't think I ever knowingly heard his band, though - did recognize lots of other names he played with as well. Doesn't sound like he kept using one of these once they stopped paying him to promo it. Still, neat to know.

Well, as long as we're adding to bholder's collection, he'll have to get one of these as well:

I want one. Like, really, really, REALLY want one.
That looks like the Takamine I was drooling over - but different. Do they ship to the US? Have to translate that page.
Edit: translated and currency converted, comes out to $1,937.51. Nice, but... ...still, that's less than half the list price of the Takamine.

Aargh. So while running to the post office this morning, to pick up the package I missed on Saturday because they couldn't bother to ring the bell (which I thought was the Hohner, but turned out to be a parts body), the FedEx delivery of the Hohner arrived, and I of course now missed that too! Holy Snowballing SNAFUs, Batman! Anyway, now I have to drive down to Fedex before 7 to get the Hohner - what else will I miss while doing that? Sheesh!

The Corelli 57ms arrived today as expected, just swapped them onto the Regal - definitely not as loud as the cheapos from the Chinese upright, but better tone, and definitely lower tension easier on the fingers. Gives it rather a "delicate" sound. Thanks for the advice. Now to get a piezo on there somehow.

I tried the Takamine out in a shop in London earlier this year. I didn't like it as much as I wanted to. The fingerboard was too radiused, it balanced poorly and the scale length, at 34", was too short for what the instrument is trying to achieve, IMO. Instead of ending up with the best of both worlds, it ended up being the worst of both worlds. I was really bummed out because I thought it would be amazing.

I've never seen the Landscape ARB-204/FL in person, but I'd be more than willing to check one out next time I'm in Tokyo - whenever the heck that'll be! The price is certainly reasonable. It looks like it would be a better attempt at what the Takamine was trying to do - then again, I was already let down once.

I found that the Corellis respond really radically to string height. ...on a DB, at least. A fairly small increase in string height resulted in a big increase in volume and digging in just a bit made it distinctly less delicate. Don't know what the results will be like on the world's biggest ukelele you got there, though. ;)

Manage to get the Hohner before closing time?

Yeah, barely, because FedEx's ground shipping facility is about 10 miles from their normal place, out in the back end of nowhere, with no obvious customer entrance. But it all worked out. The Hohner sounds great, but the neck needs adjusting - action is so high on the high notes that intonation is off - hope the truss rod is healthy. Lowered the string tension and leaned it against a wall in case it was a reaction to changes during shipping, give it some time to rest and acclimate before messing with the truss rod.
