NCAA Bracket Challenge

Thanks for the vote of confidence that Carolina will win against a tough and talented Louisville team. I am taking nothing for granted, should the Heels win against the Cardinals, we would be honored to play the winner of the Kansas-Davidson game.

Oh, and I guess you think that Kansas wins in cakewalk against Davidson who will cower in fear when they see KANSAS :eek: on the shirts of their opponent? :rolleyes: They didn't when it said Georgetown or Wisconsin - but I guess that KANSAS is (in my best Dana Carvey church lady voice) special.

That said, a matchup of number 1 seeds in the Final Four is truly special especially when they have the tradition and history of Carolina and Kansas. It would be a fine game.

Now about that Allen Fieldhouse - how many trophies are hanging there? And do you really hang trophies? Most schools hang banners in the fieldhouse and display trophies in a case - but hey - you win you get to do whatever you want with it. :D

Back to the original question - 2 trophies hanging in 56 years; 1 in the last 20 years. Few of the students currently attending Kansas were even potty-trained when Kansas last won their last championship and none (except maybe that guy on the seven year plan remember it). The seniors at UNC remember a championship that happened in their first year on campus.

Brad in the Top 2% of all of ESPN - very impressive

Atoz Smilies in the Top 12% - not bad for someone who says he didn't watch much college hoop this year :rolleyes:

Fontaine in the Top third but looking over his shoulder at....

Dangnewt's Bracket of Doom lurking in the weeds in the lower third but with a pathway to the top if everything breaks just right :ninja: Or the bottom if everying breaks wrong :hiding:

M. Dimon's D3 The Big Least whacked his bracket even harder than it did mine.

Adam (abark000) Our fearless ringleader might be down but is not out - he has enough teams still standing to finish strong.

Who's got the depth Kansas does? OH look, Darnell Jackson is getting slighty tired, lets send in Sascha Kaun and watch the three's rain down. Honestly. I've been pulling for Davidson, its my dad's alma mater, but theres no way they will be the 'Hawks. They won't run home with their tails between their legs at the sight of a KU jersey, but you're going to see some sad Davidson seniors tomorrow.

I wish they would totally rearrange the NCAA conferences though, so that KU and UNC would be in the same one. Id like to see regular season KU/UNC games. KU/UNC rivalry is much better than the KU/MU rivalry.

I love when people talk noise and have it backfire. Are you going to stick around if your Jayhawks do nothing like they have the last few years? Before last year they had trouble getting out of the first round, right? :D

Depth? That's like saying the Red Sox are going to win the World Series because they have the best middle relief. (Wait a minute, they did win the World Series, maybe there is something to Imastupidbaby's theory. Hmmm.)

KU and UNC don't need a league to play each other - whenever they want to play they just need to pick a date and you can pretty much guarantee that a sold out arean and national TV. They and the other big programs should schedule each other rather than run up a gaudy record against lesser competition.

Speaking strictly as a geography major, I prefer leagues that have some sort of rational geographic basis - but that is just me. I'm not crazy about leagues that can't count either - Big Ten, are you listening??? Perhaps we should ask the world's wealthiest geographer, Michael Jeffrey Jordan UNC '85 what he thinks? :D

Um, no. 05 was a fluke. The hawks are team that go to the sweet 16 at least year after year. they choked in 05 yeah.

to be totally honest, I'll pull for davidson if they beat the hawks tomorrow. Its very unlikely, but hey I said the same thing about them losing to Bucknell in 05.

I agree, though I would much rather the hawks have played the heels instead of Yale.

What a difference two games makes - the new standings

bigfatbass - dislodged the mighty Brad Barker - bracket motto "there is a reason these guys are number 1 seeds." Still in the Top 10%

Atoz Smilies - bracket motto "ignorance is bliss" - also in the Top 10%

Fontaine - movin' on up from 4th to 3rd

Brad Barker - Icarus had a smoother landing. Forgot the answer to the classic question that every fifth grader on Tobacco Road knows - Why is the sky Carolina blue?

abark000 - digging out of that first day hole, will he be the next to pass Brad?

dangnewt - Remembered that God is a Tar Heel fan; forgot pretty much everything else. I need Texas to win to do anything.

M. Dimon - Holding down the Low End at the moment; but in a small group, big changes are possible.

True.

It is not exactly like the son of a former NBA player (and Mom has some height and hops as a Division 1 volleyball player) was flying under the radar - he was all-state in a state that takes hoops very seriously. All the ACC schools knew him and could have had him with the offer of scholarship. They thought he was little short. Virginia Tech, his dad's alma mater, offered him a walk-on opportunity which he declined.

Hi gang! sorry I wasn't here to join in the smack talk as my bracket crept it's way to the top, but Los Blancos was on a quick southern tour to thaw out a bit. As we rolled through memphis, nashville, and knoxville we were desperately trying to tune in the games on a battery powered black and white. We had the guitard yelling scores from the back seat, waving the thing around like a hanky trying to catch enough signal to read a score, or see a highlight.

That being said:

and a brief digression since I've been gone, way to GO Orange pulling defeat from the jaws of victory against UMASS! The only bigger blown lead in a must-win game this year was, let me think, what was it....

Oh yeah, it was SYRACUSE against Pitt 2 weeks ago. :spit:

Way to make the same mistakes, and miss the same lay-ups, over, and over, and over again. TWENTY-TWO missed lay-ups? Are you (expletive deleted) kidding me?!?!?! Double :spit::spit:!!!
