NCAA Football 2011 - Week 6

I've lost a lot of respect for Gary Patterson after the comments he made below. He sounds like a little whiny child and can't handle the fact that he just got beat by SMU. Very unprofessional since I don't think the comments made by the SMU coach were much at all. And if Patterson is getting upset about something one of their football players said, he really should get a grip on himself. This alone makes me think he could never handle a high-pressure coaching job at a big school. Sorry, but he's off my short list of candidate coaches for bigger jobs.

It seems Auburn's fighting spirit is still there, so that's something to be positive about. It looks like they could pull out some wins no one was expecting them to still, so who knows how things will go. Considering all the seniors you guys lost, getting to 7 wins would be good, and 8 would be fantastic. That loss to Clemson was tough, but they're obviously having an up year, and beating them at home is a tall order.

I have to chuckle about Mizzou saying they're waiting for an SEC offer "but would have preferred one from the Big Ten."

Also, word on the e-street is that the Big XII is in talks with Brigham Young to try and get them to join up.

I saw that Missouri headline on ESPN.com, I didn't even click on it. I'm waiting for an invitation from the SEC too by the way. :)

I'm excited for the Red River Rivalry. Is this the first year they call it that instead of the Red River Shootout?

Heh, it's funny how they try to change these names. People still call the Florida/Georgia game the cocktail party, despite efforts to get rid of that.

Hmm.... so let's for argument's sake assume that TCU, BYU, and 2 other schools who the Big XII are in talks with - Boise State and SMU - join and Mizzou decides to leave for the Big Ten/SEC. That would give us....

TEXAS: 5
KANSAS: 2
OKLAHOMA: 2
IDAHO: 1
IOWA: 1
UTAH: 1

Should make for interesting conference divisions.

Tough test for the Wolverines this week. Pretty nasty defense Northwestern has been putting on the field vrs the run and I suspect Shoelace will have to be as efficient as he was last week to keep Northwestern honest.
It's going to be closer than I would like I expect, but I sure hope the Wolverines can squeak this one out.

We FINALLY hired a coach who is the equal of Danny Ford, no mystery there....20 years in the wilderness with coat tail riders like Ken Hatfield & Tommy Bowden... And Tommy West, who while a great linebackers coach, had no business being our leader...

Dabo is the first guy the players trust to lead them to win. We've had plenty of horses, just lousy coaching...

Y'know, I caught just the end of a new story while passing a radio today - all I heard was part of the last sentence which ended "....was invited to join the Big 12".

I thought for a moment and said "That must be about TCU. I'll be they pull out of that move to the Big East and connect with the Big 12. It gets them into a BCS conference and saves them a lot of time and travel money."

Got that one right!...but it was a no-brainer. Makes perfect sense, keeps their games closer to home, and gives them the BCS conference membership they wanted.

Well, NW did allow 381 yards rushing against Army, so I dunno. That said, it should be an interesting game. Robinson's decision-making seems to be getting better, but this is Michigan's first road game of the season. First sellout in Evanston in quite a while, I believe. And Persa should be better this week as he gets his legs again. I'll be within shouting distance of the stadium, so I'm pulling for Northwestern.:)
