Some guy that comes over with the ladder and get you to sign a contract with the Devil.
A lot of people are wondering that. Leach's comments were that they had lots of energy, ran to the ball, but lost their discipline and forgot their assignments. He said they played hard, but dumb. Really dumb.
He went on to say that Falk is prone to over-analyzing and not pressing the ball down the field. Hilinski came in and put pressure down the field but was reckless with the ball, leading to four turnovers in the second half. He said if he could slice them in half and make one QB out of it, he'd be pretty good.
The Cougs had a decent shot in that game IF they had avoided the turnovers. With the turnovers, it was "turn out the lights, the party's over." But I gotta give AZ credit, they took that game and ran with it. They look like a real contender for the PAC-12 South now.
Just seems that for the last few years the Cougars have been flashing, but never quite getting over the hump. Which is a bummer really.
That's entirely accurate, and very disappointing but true. They had a great year last year, then dumped their last 3 games, including a bowl loss to a Minnesota team that had 10 players suspended shortly before the game. I could not BELIEVE that they lost that game.
The Cougs have made real strides under Leach, and the win/loss record is much better over the last three years, but every game is an adventure. They may turn around and dominate Stanford next weekend, or they may go out for a beer and not show up.
As a long-suffering (57 years now) but loyal Coug, all I can do is quote George Carlin: "Wherever you are, THERE you are!"
