let's hypothesize that rutgers beats WVU and finishes undefeated. why would they be less legitimate that WVU or UL out of the big east for the championship? sure, they started the season unranked, but don't the arguments stay the same? haven't they proved that they've been underrated all year?

i don't understand how all these one-loss teams have anything to be thankful for until rutgers loses. to that end, i don't understand how auburn and florida get more credit in the SEC than arkansas -- they're the only team who has a chance of finishing the SEC undefeated.

can't we wait to see how the games finish before crowning kings?

florida plays arkansas or auburn in the SEC championship. their schedule strength probably goes down against FSU, and definitely against western carolina.

texas will lose some after playing KSU, but it'll probably go back up a little after playing A&M. i don't know that nebraska in the big 12 title game will improve their schedule, but that kind of assumes texas will beat nebraska. and that nebraska will hold onto its north division lead.

i know sportswriters would have fewer jobs if they didn't debate this BCS [stuff] ad nauseum, but do we have to, too? the only debates that are relevant are whether we agree with the BCS formula's conclusions or not. but that doesn't really matter until the end of the season, when all the games have actually been played, rather than talked to death.

....so Florida would have to put some serious beat downs to be in the big one.

You're probably right. If not, as long as Texas keeps winning, they will go right by the Gators.

It's really not that clear though. There are a couple other teams that have a shot, including everyones favorite team to bash on around here.....the USC Trojans. If they go out and beat Oregon, Cal, Notre Dame, and UCLA over the next month, they could end up having a legit shot at position #2 in the title game.
