NCAA Week 7

1 team left untouched in the SEC...

What do yall think BCS #1 or will Texas jump em? Texas has only played 1 ranked opponent, and Alabama has beaten 2 top 10 teams on the road and has not trailed all year, it clearly be Bama #1...

ROLL TIDE

.......this will be the biggest, fastest, hardest-hitting defense Tebow & Co. have seen this season by far, and the running game of the Tiger offense is pretty brutal, the Gators will need to commit at least 8-9 to the box to stop Charles Scott and the very solid O-line for LSU.

Or not. It turned out just as I predicted. The Gator speed ran down that sorry display of defense from LSU. You guys don't have a great defense, they don't go nine deep anywhere on the field, and your running game is as bad as my one legged grandpa's. Who is Charles Scott?

FLORIDA - 51

LSU - 21

So now I'll sit back and wait for the Spin Doctor to show up with his laundry list of excuses why his mighty Tigers lost.

Yeaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!:hyper::hyper::hyper: Man, that was a satisfying win! Definitely the Gators' best game since the championship stomping.

Mike, you definitely called the factors right--the speed killed! Plus, Demps and Rainey both showed nice strength when running up the middle, we didn't even miss Moody. And how about the previously suspect offensive line, they played their hearts out tonight. Brandon Spikes is looking like a monster, his size/speed/agility are starting to remind me of *genuflect* Jevon Kearse! Then there's that fella named Tebow.:D

Oh, I wasn't at the game, Mike, I have a buddy here who's a big Gator fan. I don't know about you, but we were just incensed by that remarkably stupid call on the kickoff near the end of the first that set up LSU's first score. Really, Holliday catches it and steps out of bounds, but Florida is penalized?:spit: It's either a terrible interpretation by the refs or a badly written rule. Thankfully, I was pretty well over that by the time Spikes reached the end zone.:D

That said, tough game for Florida this week. They lost to a very weak Old Miss, and didn't really impress on their win in Arkansas. They'd better show up a lot better than those two games, or it will be a very ugly day in The Swamp, this will be the biggest, fastest, hardest-hitting defense Tebow & Co. have seen this season by far, and the running game of the Tiger offense is pretty brutal, the Gators will need to commit at least 8-9 to the box to stop Charles Scott and the very solid O-line for LSU. Of course, that means that the corners will be on an island most of the time, and better be on their A+++ game...

I'm thinking LSU is up for this one, and that's not going to bode well for UF:

LSU 27
UF 13
I'd say that the 9 "we can start on any defense in the SEC, and most of us in the NFL" defensive linemen from LSU are all the kryptonite needed. Nothing like fresh defensive linemen in the 4th quarter to take the wind out of an offense's sails...

:smug:
That's all well and good, but how about the condition of your offensive line by that time??? :)

If they can't block, doesn't matter how fresh the RB's and WR's are....

Mike -

Absolutely, we need to watch it together one year! :)

As for the DL affecting the WR's, simple. If Tebow is either a) lying on his back, or b) running for his life because they've totally blown up the pass blocking, the WR's can be running free down the field and it won't matter much. ;)

As for the Gator's offensive firepower...explain losing to Old Miss? :D Yeah, that was a defensive powerhouse, to be sure, mmhmm, that's why they didn't let UF score at will, right...sure.

:smug:

Like I said, if the Gators don't bring their A+++ game, it ain't gonna be pretty.

As for the LSU offense, you mean the #1 offense in the SEC, right? Yeah, check it out, you must not be paying close attention, but dats de fax, jack.

:D
Actually, the defenses the Gators have faced that I've found most impressive have been Ole Miss and Miami. Sorry, Gard!:D

:D

the scary thing is that there is definitely room for improvement with the gators.

the 1-2-3 of harvin, demps, and rainey is just fantastic, especially since harvin is a high-maintenance ferrari of an athlete who can only play fractions of games at a time. no matter! demps is just as good!:D

i hope we can sustain this level of play, and possibly improve upon it, so we don't get caught off-guard by kentucky, south carolina, vandy, or... georgia. :D

oh, and i'm guessing that auburn is taking alabama down. i'm not saying i'm putting down a c-note on that or anything, but i just fully expect it, like i expected auburn to lose to arkansas today.

alright, see ya guys next week. :D

So far, I think you're spot on...

My spreads weren't that accurate, but I'll take 5 for 6.

Texas looks really good. I'll be looking forward to their game w/OSU.

Michigan State may be the second best team in the Big 10. They should enter next week at least #15.

The Irish looked a lot better than I thought they would, and kept it close until the end. Alas, Touchdown Jesus doesn't reside in Chapel Hill.

The Trojans won ugly, yet still pitched a shutout. Rudy Carpenter will be very sore tomorrow morning.

LSU experienced what Auburn did a few weeks ago. They hadn't played anybody, and when they finally did, they got beat. Badly.

Oklahoma State surprised me - their defense is good, and their quarterback is even better. If they don't crack the Top 10 this week, something's wrong.

Here's my Top 10 heading into Week 8:

1. Alabama
2. Texas
3. Penn State
4. Texas Tech
5. BYU
6. USC
7. Florida
8. Oklahoma State
9. Oklahoma
10. Ohio State

Personally, I would move USC, Florida and OK State past BYU and Texas Tech--the latter two just haven't played anybody yet, IMO. Otherwise, I'd leave it as is.

I got no Gator buddies up this way, but quite a few SEC guys. I watched the game with a buddy from Birmingham.

Yes, that kickoff was bizarre. Were you watching the game somewhere where you could hear the commentators? While the Gator fans were booing, Danielson says something along the lines of..."you hear those 90,000 fans booing? That's 90,000 people who don't get the rule". He says this only moments after admitting HE didn't understand the rule. So he suddenly became an expert on it and starts talking crap about the Gator fans booing? What a tool.

Well...I waited up as long as I could for Gard tonight. He must be hiding somewhere. The "mighty" LSU defense.....the "brutal" running game....what a load of horse puckey! I'm with you on the Ole Miss and Miami defense being better than those jokers in yellow and purple.

This line of Gard BS especially makes me laugh......"Nothing like fresh defensive linemen in the 4th quarter to take the wind out of an offense's sails..." :hmm::D:D:D:D

I feel you, Greg, but the latter two are undefeated and were ranked in the Top 10 this week, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and didn't penalize them for not losing.

I've seen BYU play twice this season and they're pretty good - swarming D and a great tight end. Plus, even though it was UCLA, a 59-0 victory is impressive. Their rivalry game against Utah will be a fun one this year.

I haven't seen Texas Tech play, but just getting by Nebraska in OT means they'll probably get blown up by the first quality opponent they face. Or, they may be like OSU and surprise a top-tier Big 12 program. That league is chock full of game-breaking quarterbacks, so anything could happen.

That's why they play the games, and that's why we watch 'em! On to Week 8!

I just ordered this shirt from GatorZone.com:

...

BYU was not impressive today. Their last TD came very late with the game already in hand after New Mexico was absolutely ROBBED of a TD by a HORRIBLE "illegal block in the back" call. Had the TD stood, it would have been 14-10 with 6 minutes left. The Cougars could have very easily lost that game. Overrated team IMO.

Utah is just killing me this year. If we didn't have such a great defense, we might be 5-2. Brian Johnson is a liability at QB, and Offensive Coordinator Andy Ludwig is incompetent. I think we lose against New Mexico, taking most of the luster from the BYU rivalry game.

I said it last season and I'll say it again tonight, Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson have a huge man-crush on the LSU program. They couldn't have sounded more biased until the fourth, when even they had to admit the game was out of reach.

This line of Gard BS especially makes me laugh......"Nothing like fresh defensive linemen in the 4th quarter to take the wind out of an offense's sails..." :hmm::D:D:D:D

Seven d-linemen who are NFL starters! For who, the Lions? The Rams? Their line got rocked all night, and the loss of Bo Pellini is huge - LSU as a unit couldn't tackle.

I'll wait now for the predictable "yeah, but we lost to a ranked SEC team, while USC lost to Pac-10 patty-cake Oregon State" response. ;)
