NCAA Week 8

subbin' for an understandably dejected auburn fan. (save your season by beating bammer, please!)

gators have a bye; hopefully they won't let the one-sided victory get to their heads too much.

cal at arizona will be entertaining; hopefully my pac-10 team will pull it off. longshore has a slipped disk, apparently, so hopefully riley will get the start. jahvid "beast" might be back, which will help out a lot.

south florida is playing... *checks* syracuse! :D

Texas, Bama, and Penn State at the top. Bama winning by playing smash-mouth defense and running the football down people's throats. If I didn't know what year it was, I'd think that the Bear was the coach, and that JoePa could still sprint out on the field. Funny how things have come full circle at least for a bit. Looking forward to the rest of the season here.

It was laughable that BYU was every in the top 10 to begin with. To get knocked off by TCU only proves that. And now that the Big 12 teams are starting to play one another, many of them will get upset as well, and it will be back to the SEC being dominant again.

Well, TCU may deserve a look. hey were dominant on both sides of the ball, and their only loss was at Oklahoma. Stirring the pot, yo.

Bama and Florida are the only dominant teams in the SEC, and even the Gators got upset early. I don't think the SEC is living up to the hype this year. And I don't say that to bash - I think the quarterbacking, conference-wide, is lacking. Tebow's a stud, Stafford's good, as is Wilson, but that's about it.

I went 5 for 6 last week in my prognastication, so I'll give it another go this week with six games that interest me. I'm not including 42 1/2 point favorite USC, but if they lose, my Jazz bass goes up on classifieds.

Oklahoma 35, Kansas 24

The Sooners will come to play, and the Jayhawks shouldn't be 20 point dogs. However, Kansas merely isn't as good as Oklahoma, especially in Norman.

Alabama 27, Ole Miss 10

The Tide keeps Rolling. 'Nuff said.

Georgia 24, Vanderbilt 17

Loser drops from the SEC East picture. I believe it will be close, but the Dawgs have the advantage between the hedges.

Michigan State 34, Ohio State 24

Can the Buckeyes stop Javon Ringer on artificial turf? I don't think so.

Missouri 38, Texas 35

My upset pick of the day! I wonder if Texas will letdown after a huge win to take #1, and I think Chase Daniel has something to prove, a la Tebow. I think this will be as fun as last week's Red River Shootout. (Yeah, I still call it a shootout!)

California 28, Arizona 14

Key Pac-10 matchup. Arizona still hasn't played anybody, Cal has. Veteran quarterbacking for the Wildcats keep this one from being a blowout.

I basically agree with most of those, but I think Georgia will blow Vandy out by at least 20, and I think Texas over Miss by 14.

All that proves is that there is actually competition in the Big XII. I don't wanna hear any of this "SEC plays tougher schedules" nonsense.

Oh, I totally agree! Very good competition at that! What I mean is that the top SEC teams had started playing each other before the top Big 12 teams had, and were knocking each other off. As such, there were more Big 12 teams in the top 25 this past week, and people were starting to say that the Big 12 was the stronger conference because of that. I think the SEC is definitely the strongest conference this year, but the Big 12 is not far behind, and now that they are playing each other more, they'll start knocking one another off and the polls will reflect this.
