NCD - BNA Audio Greenboy Dually

I too found this to be true. Being from the metal genre with a 66, When ever we are doing a unison muted chug running with the kick drums and I drop out, everyone starts looking at the PA as if it dropped out or the kick mic fell down.

*My drummer runs triggers and a mic'd kickdrum and our practices*

That cab is a force of nature. The ultimate 'more is more' design I've ever heard :)

Well, I agree again :)
I think the reason I "like" 15"s is
1. I grew up with em- 2x15 cab firstly, then a 1x15 EV TL.
2. I like the power/weight/size ratio of a good 115, & 215
I actually thought about 6 years ago that 10"s etc could produce as much bottom end as a 15"
I'd built myself a 210 cab (shamefully copied off a mate's Fender 210) & didn't know much about tuning cabs/ports.....(still don't)
I must've tuned that cab quite low, as I thought it had more lows than my EV115.
My drummer (then) once made the comment when I brought the 115 cab, that he liked the strong lows of it. I mumbled agreement, but quietly thought that my 210 did that better.

We have a lot in common there! The first cabs I had that I truly loved were loaded with EV 15L's.

Technically, if we're comparing say a 3010 to a 3015, the 10" CAN produce as much low end. It just can't do it as loud :)

A BNA customer and new pal, Tom, from Huntsville, AL and I have been talking a lot on this subject as we both love the efficiency and tone of the old EVL's. He got a Bassic and a Dually. Tom has enough cool amps of various sizes and wattage to not totally sweat anything, but one of his concerns seemed to be efficiently pushing some of his smaller heads. That's where these Faital 15PR400's win for both myself and Tom. They seem quite efficient, but the lows and max SPL go well beyond our old faves of yesteryear. All this has me jonesing for a Sunn 200s bad :)

Also known as Tom

Cranked up the Bassic with my admittedly tweaked (Mercury Magnetics output transformer) Ampeg B25B in a fairly quiet gig. Could barely turn the Ampeg on. Tone was neuvo retro holy grail with folks on stage and FOH loving it. Thursday I will take the Dually to a rock club with my Mesa 400 plus to see what we can do. I think we will be asked to turn down as we are burying the two guitar players and the PA. Headroom and tone are wonderful things.

FWIW, the Faitals cover the 55-02 clear down to the low B smoothly. It isn't entirely fair as their bottom gets better once broken in.

Mark has been outstanding to deal with. I presume builder vetting is such that going to your area person should be almost as awesome as him....

Way too kind, Tom...cannot wait to hear about the 400+/Dually gig...I predict blurred vision awesomeness :)

Bassic is vintage sound akin to K140 and EV15L with slightly less efficiency but better low end excursion capability and very smooth upper end for a 15. Bassic had me flashing back to JBL and EV loaded cabs I use to own, only better. Dually will be SCARY. Upside FWIW is you could I suppose do a Bassic with an SVT as that 15 is available as a 4 ohm driver. I think SVT just does 4 and 2 ohm loads. Running higher impedance is less dicey than running amp lower than it has taps for. I suppose there exists a 12 akin to the Faital Pro, but the unit cost would be very close and there is not an existing design for a dually in dual 12 trim. Eminence 3012 (not LF) has decent efficiency and excursion, but no idea how a pair of them would do stand alone.

Prefer a vintage sound. Just thought it be a nice middle ground between the Bassic with a 15 and the Dually with 2x15.

A Bassic 212 is a cool enough idea, and there is a Bassic 12. Right now, the Bassic 15 is a wonderful design and a real shocker for it's size and weight. For whatever reason, a lot of the 12" super drivers are the same price or even more when compared to their equivalent 15" driver, so the 15's tend to win out. This is more greenboy's area, but I do know that some brands may make the perfect 10" driver, but the 15's aren't quite right for his design goals, just as an example.

BNA have been authorized gb builders since Feb of this year, and in that time we have seen at least 7 new designs go public that are very good at what they do. That's nearly one new design per month! I can't think of a single designer trying so hard to provide as many great options so quickly. But you know how it is...as soon as a 212 Dually comes out, there'll be folks wanting to know what it wasn't a 310, and when that one comes out, why wasn't it a 4x8? You see where I'm going with this :)

I had my 3015 in a different cab before I had mark build me a proper cab for the speaker. Marks cab improved the performance of the 3015 almost like night and day. It seemed like I got more lows and highs from having a proper box. I'm still getting used to the NEO115 and 9.0 set up. Be using tubes and 10's for years. Just still making EQ tweaks. I've only used the 3015 for 3 gigs and only 1 with it loaded in marks box. Plus I never seem to take the same bass twice :) I have like 10 in the stable and rotating 4-5 in and out lately.

My buddy and I were pretty impressed with it the other day when I showed it to him. I took it to a local guitar store to show it to him and we put a vintage GK 400rb and a genz GBE 750 thru it and it sounded killer in the store. I'm almost thinking of checking out one of those newer GK micro amps. I've always loved GK stuff and like I said it was killing with the 400rb, just not a lot of headroom with a 8ohm cab. I've had 3 GK's over the years and am kinda gassing for one. I wanted a 400rb before the other day with my buddy. I know now its not enough headroom with the bassic. :( but plenty of other GK options even in micro.
