NCD - BNA Audio Greenboy Dually

The GK 1001's sound great and can be found stupid cheap for what great amps they are...

On the 3015 vs Faital;

They both are the very best new speakers out there, so you really can't go wrong either way. The first time I heard an a/b I leaned a bit toward the 3015. Overall, I prefer the Faitals now, but barely :)

If you have a low wattage amp with limited eq, for example a Sunn 200s, then the Faital wins for efficiency and a smoother rising response. If you have big power and good eq, the 3015 will actually go a bit louder, and possibly lower. Then again with the proper eq you can get whatever you want out of either :)

Why do I have the feeling I'm missing the boat havering a 3015 instead of the faital?...

I just ordered a Dually with the 3015s. I vacillated between them & the Faitals, but after listening to johnk_10's sound clips, am now betting I've chosen the right one for me.

My every instinct as a modern consumer is to get the best/most/biggest of whatever I'm buying!

Last time I ended up with a fEARful 15/6/1 -- which was the best/most/biggest at the time.
But I find I'm always EQing away all its hifi-ness, to make it sound more vintage-sounding (to my ears).

I love old school recordings where the bass is slotted into a mix in the few octaves above the kick's thud -- without its overtones competing with female vocals.

I'm trying to pro-actively reform my buying reflexes away from best/most/biggest, toward enough-for-me.
Turns out I don't need the highs of a fEARful; I don't even need the highs of the Faital 15s!

I think I need the thump of 3015s. I'll keep you posted!

I moved from an NV610 to a Dually to lose some of that punchy attack all those 10s were giving me. There's still a nice defined attack with my Dually w/ 3015s, but it is much smoother.

Not sure how many actual studio recordings there are of Duallys, but my band's demo will be done with the mixing and mastering phases in a couple of weeks. You can see me recording with the Dually all mic'd up in the vid in my sig. I would consider my current tone the "best" I've ever had, and I think the cab is a big part of that!

Congrats! I keep a Bassic at my studio for tracking :)
