Those don't count. The Murph thing was contrived parody…you need to find a pic of an actual old-school Holiday Inn band that cluelessly considered themselves all hip and happening. The Stooges thing is weak sauce; their heads are photoshopped onto the Rolling Stones' bodies, whereas I've seen that done in other versions with Iggy and the actual band. But ultimately the point of any of this is to find real bands with unrealistic expectations.

Gert Jonnys was a Swedish dansband during the 1970s and 1980s. Its leader, Gert Jonny Hansson left the band in 1982, and since 1988, the three remaining members and one additional member, are known as Freddy's, led by Freddy Pedersen and Chris Bittner. They still perform occasionally in the southern parts of Sweden, in Denmark and on the Canary Islands, although the members also have day jobs.

The band was relatively unknown until a number of old promotional pictures were posted on the Internet and gained instant cult status.

The crazy thing about most of the bands on that page, with their ridiculous outfits, is that if those bands actually performed in getups like that, then they had to have several changes of clothing. Which means people actually made those clothes, and other people paid them to do it.

o_O:eek:

I'm with you on that. Back in 1982, in my Top 40 road band, it was suggested we wear spandex on stage and in our promo shots. I emphatically said no. A compromise was reached.

Being a broke musician at the time, it took some selling of a few things, but I was able to buy a couple of pairs of new leather pants from a motorcycle shop. The owner gave me a discount for buying two, especially when I told him what they were for. He was a former musician and could relate. Whew! Disaster was averted.
