Need some help on finding a Bass I like

I am looking for an active bass with two humbuckers and a fairly small neck. something like a jazz neck or stingray neck. I don't like chunky or thick necks due to not being a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sized person. My favorite neck is a Fender US Jazz standard neck from like 5 to 10 years ago that I slapped on my P-Bass.

I want a bass that has an aggressive tone and a sound that is thumpy, boomy and rounded. No clank, honk, clack or tinny mid range; I want a bass that sounds like a pack of elephants stampeding.

G&L? I don’t know much about the neck profiles but they do a lot of 2x HB basses at various price points. There’s a G&L club here at TB where I’m sure someone more in the know could answer your questions. Good luck with the search.

Yeah so far the G&L L-2000 has been the only one that seems to line up with what I think I'd like.

I'll +1 the L2K. It's the tactical thermonuclear warhead of bass - essentially the Fender Precision suped up by Leo Fender himself. You can find them with jazz dimensioned necks (have to go with MIA tho), though you have to look around. But they're out there.

Beware that the MFD's do have a lot of high mids and still some of the awful clinky tinkly highs especially on a fretted L2K, but in series mode, the MFD is the hydrogen bomb of bass pickups with no close 2nd place contender. Be prepared to replace the speakers in your amp after the gig.

Another G&L to consider is the ASAT, which is essentially identical to the L2K except for the "telecaster" shaped body. And the jazz dimensioned neck is standard on it. So if you can find one it will have the jazz neck on it by default (unless it was a special order, etc).

Ibanez SD GR basses sound and play great if you don't mind the look of them. I had one and it had a slim jazz-type neck. Very versatile tone-wise too.

Yeah, you want a G&L or a Ray, you can get a Stingray with 2 pickups. The Ray neck is a little closer to a classic P but not quite as deep.

Ibanez came immediately to mind if you’re considering a budget. If the sky is the limit then my preference is a Modulus Q5.

How do those compare to the Cirrus, I had my eye on one of those.

Those necks aren' too thin are they? I hate Ibanez guitar necks personally. Too wide and too flat. My baby has got to have some curves in the back. If ya know what I mean.

I should say my budget is no more than 2-2.5k. Maybe 3k for something used.

The USA EBMM Sterling 4HH might be worth looking into:

It has a Jazz width neck, but a flatter radius than what you would have on a typical Fender style Jazz neck.

Depends on your price range so maybe you should specify what it is.
I will say G&L has some good options but I will suggest the M2000 rather than the L2000. The sound is rounder, less mid than the L2000 (I had both the Tribute versions of the M2000 and L2000 so going by my personal experience). The Tribute version of the M2000 (now discontinued but you can find used ones out there) also has a slimmer neck - in between a jazz and a P bass.
Other brands that come to mind - Peavey Axcelerator, Cirrus, Millenium, Foundation.
Traben Chaos or John Moyer (also discontinued but those Rockfield pickups are super powerful and the overall sound is more bass oriented than either the g&l L2000 or M2000 imo)
