Neopak still gets the job done

I just want to give a shout out to my faithful, almost 20 year old, Genz Benz Neopak 3.5. I have been using either my Genz Shuttle 6.0 or Neopak 3.5 for years pretty interchangeably, but used the Shuttle for larger spaces and outdoor gigs. Recently, my brother, who is also a bassist, was having issues with his Markbass amp and his Ampeg SVT 3-Pro, so I gifted him my Shuttle. He usually plays in louder situations than I do.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve played a couple of outdoor events with my cover band, where the bass was not going through the PA. Sunday was an autumn farm festival where there were over three thousand people attending. I had the Neopak powering my older Bergantino HT/EX12 mini-stack. It didn’t break a sweat and sounded great! This little amp was way ahead of its time almost twenty years ago, and still gets the job done. I had it serviced once a few years ago by agedhorse, its designer. It is a wonderful piece of equipment. Kudos to the former Genz team, Jeff G, Andy, Roger, Jeff S, et al.

I have that same rig! Neo-pak and the two Berg cabs . What a great amp.

I even had mine serviced by the Aged Horse a few years back.

I'm having an out-of-body experience.

Love the NeoPak, wish I had kept mine as a backup rather than compulsively gear swapping for like 10 years.

I'm also keeping an eye out an EX cab to go with my HT! So far all I come across are cabs with the gaudy chrome grilles.

The only bass amps I keep at home these days are my Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 10t and 6.0 12t. I still don't think it's possible to "upgrade" that 3.0 combo, when you consider the size, features, weight and sound. Keep in mind it was made in 2008. The 6.0 is great too, and amazingly loud for the size. Oddly enough I think I prefer the more direct and focused voicing of the smaller 10t cab. I wonder if there's another larger Genz Benz cab to pair with the 6.0 that might sound similar to the 10t in that way?

Genz Benz user here for many years. I went through the whole line, including the .2 models. The 6.2 shuttle and the 12.2 shuttlemax were my favorite models. Not playing too much these days, but I still have the 6.2. Great amps, and you can't beat the customer service you get from Agedhorse.

There's a place I play at occasionally that has a 6.0/210 combo as a backline and it's probably my favorite place to show up to with just a bass. I can get some of the best tones out of that amp. It needs to be serviced, the pots are crackly... but once I set the EQ all is good. If they ever sell it I'll definitely be grabbing it.

Never played a Neopack but have long suspected they sound special. Am deeply into the GB line, with 3.0 shuttles in two locations, a 6.2 stack in secondary location, a 9.2 and Shuttlemax 9.2 as my primary gig and rehearsal amps, and a killer Contour 115 combo in a third location. Have been messing around with other gig amps, yet keep coming back to that Shuttlemax. It is a gem.

That's great! I've never been let down by any Genz/Genzler stuff and I've used a ton at this point. I was using my Magellan800 for most stuff until I picked up the GBE1200 last summer. It's all I play now and the Magellan is a backup amp at my rehearsal space.

Now I just need a nice Berg 212 or 410 cab to pair with it there. Got a 115 and 210 Ampeg PF stack that could be improved in my opinion!

I had a Neo-Pak a long time ago. It was a wonderful amp. I replaced it with some other Genz Benz product. I now have Genzler. Greta product. Great people.

HA....I was just playing this older GB design. The NEO-PAK3.5 still lives on here at the GENZLER AMPS bass bunker. It's always nice to pull out something old and test it against new things. This amp has aged very well. Pic for proof.

Shuttle 6.2 is still my go to amp and a 6.0 as backup. No issues.

The shuttle 210T or 112T, or any of the Uber cabinets.

Wait a minute, here! I play a Candy Apple Red Roscoe Beck V!!! It's my gig bass. Still not sure about the 9.5" fingerboard radius, but the basic sound and range of tones is perfect for my cover/bar band.
