Well now, don't drag Pete into it.For Pete's sake.
First scenario:
OP: Hey guys, I have a cheap bass and I want to replace the neck and bridge. How do I go about this?
Bob: Why would you change your bridge?
OP: Because It feels cheap?????

Don't ask why someone would do a modification or stuff like that. Don't ask awkward questions. Just answer them. Answer the asked question, not other questions.
Please!
Pete who?
Because, sometimes inexperienced members want to make "improvements" to their basses based on the opinions of other inexperienced members. They think it will improve their bass, when most of us know better.
That's not what we do here. You ask a question on an open forum there are no rules. You can't specify who can or can't answer or what kinds of opinions they are "allowed" to offer.
Some of us are goofballs. I personally will almost always shoot you some sarcasm (right before I do my best to help).
Good luck finding your bridge.
Nah. If you are going to rattle can a 1958 P, suggest a silver metal flake base coat and then a green clearcoat. Gotta get that Zombiecaster metal flake sag effect. It's all about the bling, man. It's different. If one is to ruin his bass, it would be better to suggest why it would be so. If somebody wants to spraypaint their 1958 P bass, don't ask why, say "don't do that' or something.
OP: "Hey bass dudes, I have a bass and I want to replace the body, neck, electronics, tuner, bridge, pickups, knobs, strings, neck plate and screws, pick guard, control plate, truss rod, string tree and strap buttons. I got no skills, tools or time to do it. How do I go about this?"
OGB: "WHY........... don't you just buy a new bass?"

Why did your fat uncle Calvin Klein change his name to Pete? Things were much more straightforward before that happened. Everyone knew where you stood with Calvin. Now Pete bandies about the bush calling spades shovels and all sorts of nonsense like that. Invoking Pete makes you sound all wishy washy and limp wristed. For Pete's sake.
Okay, seriously I hear what you are saying but that is how it goes here. You started this thread in O.T. as well and we are going to enjoy ourselves with silly answers and bad puns. If someone asked a question like that in the "hardware set up and repair" section they would probably get some helpful answers. I know because I have asked questions like that myself. It's not ordering or commanding in any way, it's just a matter of courtesy. I don't know about all of you, but I find it very annoying when it happens.
