Glad you admit that the seller made a poor recommendation.

What amp currently on the market has the feature set of the Tech 21 dUg Ultra Bass 1000? Is there another comparable 2 ohm capable, specialized, crossover-based bass distortion amp available that we should know about? The dUg 1000 is a very unique amp which is custom made for people like the OP, not a generic bass amp that is easily replaceable. The two 4 ohm cabinets the seller recommended to the OP are technically a poor fit for his rig, and that is not the OP's fault.

Sure, it’s the OP’s fault, at least in part. At a minimum, the OP didn’t understand ohms loading on an amp. Where were the OP’s posts earlier this year asking the TB community to help him understand how ohms work and whether there were any downsides to this particular configuration? Nada.

And, no, I don’t know that particular amp. If that amp has his particular “sound” then get a stereo power amp and feed the preamp signal into it. Power is cheap. There are a gazillion ways to deal with the situation. But, coming on TB and slagging a builder after you didn’t understand what you were getting is NOT the way to roll.

And again, that box would work with the correct cabling, even if that’s not the way I would choose to go. So, what are we talking about here anyhow. 19 pages to figure out the correct cables? Sheesh. Macabre.

ROFLMAO! I like how you spin. You should be in politics.
They don't censor ideas or opinions. Only improper behavior like insults or cursing.
They have the right to do as a private entity. But that is not what a forum is about.
But I do love how you did that.

Yes, it has been a bit of a Twilight Zone at times, and its got to the point where one side is never going to convince the other side about anything. Might be time for the mods to lock this one up, as its going nowhere fast. Perhaps, in the future, members who post negative threads about brand name gear should have to go through some sort of vetting process by the mods, maybe a requirement to be met that the other side needs to be made aware of the thread before it gets posted for equal time or some other sort of filtering, verification of accusations process, etc.
+1 This one’s got the rig.

And what is the difference in gain when connecting two 8 ohm cabinets in parallel (4 ohm combined load), for the full 1000W/4 ohms?
Most likely no practical difference. Master volume would just be turned up a bit if two 4 ohms in series rather than two 8 Ohms parallel. If you really cranked it up as loud as it would go and A/B'd, you might hear a very slight difference with all the knobs in the same place.

With the dissimilar cabs, I don't know what it would do in series. Or in parallel. That all depends on the SYSTEM impedance curve and maybe some other factors. I've never tried and would not try dissimilar cabs in series (unless they were designed to work this way). I have my doubts on that point. This is speculation. OP was allowed to buy the dissimilar cab. Maybe Jorg has tested this combination with pleasing results, but I have my doubts of it working out as well as expected. We won't know until it's tried, and OP stated that he now refuses to try out the box. I think with the shoddy hardware that appears to have been used, I would want to verify the innards and make sure it's wired right before plugging into my amp.

Summing this up, just for myself, and trying to see the value, what I have to say surprises me the most about this thread (hmm, possibly the only thing that truly “surprises” me) is that not single one of the usually more astute posters latched onto the *reason* for deciding to add a non-matched cabinet…”feeling that I really did need more on the top end, I ordered a 12x10” and “After a few months with the 15+8, I determined I wanted to hear his 10's and 12’s”. C’mon, that’s usually torch and pitchfork type stuff that might well have been good for at least another 10 pages by itself, depending on how testy the hardcore “speaker diameter doesn’t tell you anything other than how big the speaker is” crowd might have gotten.

And deliberately choosing a 15+12+10+8 configuration? I think James Comey said it best (of course, in the completely non-political sense), “Lordy!”

So, looking at the bright side, I think the main good was the forum as a whole dodged a bullet and the OP was spared attacks on that front…so the thread has that going for it, which is nice…

Shroeder's fault for promoting pseudo science and pushing a serial box as some kind of breakthrough.
Op's fault for believing the pseudo science and expecting some kind of breakthrough technology in a serial box.

;)

Hind site: Researching before the purchase like a post about "Is this box for real?"
And of course, getting it in writing about what both parties expect from the deal.

I’m going to disagree with the “vetting” because the process may keep people from making valid concerns public. It also puts us, the users and consumers, on the defensive right out of the gate.
Of course.
The elegance of all of this is that many people were able to debate it and come to their own conclusions.
I honestly don't think Jorg came out worse for wear.
While many people also learned to be specific and do their homework because in the end it is their money.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I was thinking more along the lines of just posting negative threads about brand name gear, willy nilly, without first, at least letting the other side know you are going to post a negative thread about one of their products, or service issues. It would have been nice to let Jorg know right off the bat about this thread, instead of waiting a hundred or so posts before he finally was " made aware " of it. I don't see how that would keep people from making valid concerns public. To me, if you are going to denigrate some aspect of a brand gear, especially the owner, designer, etc., isn't fair to at least give a heads up to that person/company ?

Been using dissimilar cabinets for decades. Never had any problem as long as I knew what I was doing. The most important thing is the SPL efficiency rating needs to close to the same value, so one cabinet is not obtrusively louder than the other. Works great.
