Play in rubber gloves!emitting massive electrical currents and possibly fried me ... any suggestions?
Being that I have never owned a semi or hollow body bass, are they durable? For some reason I think of them as being fragile. Is this true?
Given the religious overtones (no pun intended) of this thread, it's only fair to point out that Jack Cassidy & Jesus Christ have the same initials.or even the epi jack Cassidy
Dunno about all that, I owned it in the mid 90s still had original Ampeg sticker(quite aged, indeed) inside the top cut-out somewhere. It was old, beautiful, had a couple of water cracks on the back of the body which actually brought out a pretty cool tone when plugged into the Ampeg amp my guitarist had. if it was a hoax, I'd have never have known. That looks like the Eastwood Devo bass inside a Danelectro Longhorn![]()
Or, as an alternative, look around for a 5123, probably 6-700 used, medium scaleWeight (and scarcity) aside, the Dillion is a fine option, as @B-Mac points out, but it does present some of the same ergonomic challenges as the JC. Bump the budget up to $900 and you can get a Gretsch 5440, an eminently light and ergonomic bass, as well as being the despair of limerists the world over.
A Gretsch bass finished in orange . . .
Oh, I was just saying that’s what it looked like lol, not that it was fake. It looks cool, I’ve never seen one of those before.Dunno about all that, I owned it in the mid 90s still had original Ampeg sticker(quite aged, indeed) inside the top cut-out somewhere. Also, Jack wrote and played the intro to "White Rabbit", which was quite the religious experience for me first time I heard it!Given the religious overtones (no pun intended) of this thread, it's only fair to point out that Jack Cassidy & Jesus Christ have the same initials.
I think you have your answer.

NP. I wish it were still around, but sold it at a swap for WAY more than it was worth with the water damage. However, someone got a great looking/sounding Ampeg rarity. Also wish I had a picture of mine, instead of something found on the 'net'work.Oh, I was just saying that’s what it looked like lol, not that it was fake.
