New 3leaf Pedal???

Not exactly. Sensitivity is like the threshold control on a compressor. It sets the level at which the filter opens and closes. If the sensitivity is set lower (meaning higher threshold), the filter will decay quicker because the level doesn't have to drop as far to trigger the decay.

Changing the decay is a simple change of one resistor, but I set it based on the decay of my Mutron at the settings I use, so I don't know if you'd like the change as much as you think.

i figured you'd have a lot more technecal knowledge of this- but from what i'm hearing, this filter opens and sort of "stays open" to some extent- if i pluck a stocatto note and then another (silence between the two) it wont give a full sweep to the 2nd note, because its still half-opened from the first note (even when i mute the strings completely between notes). what it sounds like is a very slow decay, but as far as a what it "actually" is or what you'd change to fix it, i dont know- im speaking just from what i hear.

i get what your saying about the threshhold/sensitivity being where the filter opens, and thus where it closes because its all controlled by that same input signal, and that threshold point is the open/close point of the filter, but what about on like an FX25, i can have that set so it explodes open with a light touch- but it always closes super fast, so even if your ripping 16th notes, every note is a big fat burpy explosion- weather i have to spank the string to make it open, or if a light touch will do it.

again, i'm not a pedal builder and dont have so much technecal knowledge. but this is how im hearing it.

I'm enjoying the past couple posts. Giving me a lot more to look at/listen to when I play with it again over the weekend.

what i'm talking about may not bother you at all. but its a characteristic that's making this filter appear to have very little resonance, when really, its a wet and wild filter, but its not fully sweeping most notes, and an original mutron absolutely did.

it seems to be missing some of the sharpness of the mutron sound, as i mentioned before, but its hard to tell. im almost positive if spencer can tweak what i've observed (and the gain issue that others are having) he'll need to include a pair of star sunglasses with every one of these he sells.

leaving for a gig now so, will have a bit more to share afterwards.

True enough, but it's nice to take all the comments from the other four guys, sit down with the pedal and say "grooooooooove is hearing this, let's see if I can replicate that" and go for it. If anything, it'll give me a lot more knowledge on what the pedal can and can't do.

SOUND CLIPS???

i've got them but no way to share them with the TB community..

gigged the prototype last night, was hoping for it to happen in a band mix, but that was not the case. in all honesty, if i played this pedal not knowing what it was, the last word i would use to describe its sound is "mutron," unfortunately.

IMO, the best example i know to show what i mean when i say "mutron sound" is the first 12 seconds of the studio version of "psychoticbumpschool" by bootsy. i know its typical to reference something like that, but thats what i remember getting when i used to plug in the big old mutron. this pedal just doesen't sound like that at all. (weather or not he was using his 3-rig setup for that im not sure, but will say that i doubt it because that sound was totally what i was able to achieve with one mutron.)

hopefully spencer can figure out all these issues, and provide us all with what we want- the mojo of a mutron, without the inconveniences.

Gigging today (actually cruising down the highway on the bus w/ full interwebs :bassist:). This 3 Leaf prototype didn't make the cut. Definitely needs some bugs worked out before it's usable for me. But, there's still potential in it!

yup.

i feel like i've been focusing a lot on the negatives in all my posts since i got the pedal, to me this thing right now is like an awesome car with a flat, it doesn't matter how awesome it is cause its got the small problems overshadowing its good features.

Exactly! There's all of this great, organic, funky tone inside- but I can't access them without jumping through a major hurdle.

I'd definitely be interested! There's a socketed ic inside, right?

I'd also be interested if it's "user-fixable by a relative bonehead" like me. I can do some electronics work (basic solder, replace a chip) but no brain surgery.

I'd love to keep this pedal - the sounds I can "get a glimpse of" when I play hard enough are really great! But the playability factor (e.g., very limited dynamic range of input) for me right now means this pedal (as is) won't get any playing time.

In fact I'd be more than interested - I'd be excited!

Exactly!! I have dug in hard and in certain situations got a wicked, Mutron-ish sound without a doubt! So I KNOW it's in there...sadly for me I have 13 basses and they are all passive but 1.:crying:
For me right now it is too complicated to use in a live situation.
My real Mutron was just like my GR is...plug in anywhere, thru anything, turn her on and... instant awesome!!

yeah. the mutron always sounded awesome, was never a hassle outside of the size, bypass, spike, ext.

i'd be interested in the chip you mentioned. how easy would it be to put in? +1 to "im a bonehead with this stuff."

and exactly how does it change the sound of the filter?
