We have thought about this but the pre amp in the AG 300 currently does not fit in the BG300 cabinet. We are looking into if it will be possible in the future to do this.

I looked up the specs and it's not all that high-towering- 20.5 inch it says, so if that's the case I haven't said nothing.

BUT: How can 5 5inch-speakers mounted upright and an additional mounted angled, how can these plus their enclosure be 20.5 inch high? I might miss something, but 5x5=25, + maybe 3.5, so 28.5 inch for the speaker membranes alone? Can somebody do the math and explain to me, I feel I'm a little off.

Well I'm just gunna say it cause I haven't had a good gear ffix in a while, but as a non doubling california car driving double bassist, I'm really digging this thing. right now I plug all kind of things together and either set it on the floor or a stand, but it is never really right and I gotta carry all that...plus a cart or shoulder it all. I like to have a very overpowered system that is hi fi turned down low. I like PJB sound and the small drivers. I love the angled monitor. Can plug a mic in it for when I want to do that. 74lb? what the hell do I care its got wheels and California has elevators. It, what you can stuff in a bass case is simple elegant and a date for all occasions....Now lets... see how much did they cost again?....

Correction on a couple of points (see original post below).

The Bass Buddy puts out 10 watts *not* 15 as I'd originally stated.

Also, of course, the relevant math for db/wattage is logarithmic not exponential as I'd accidentally written.

Love the look of that new combo. The 12 5" drivers should be about eqivalent to a 3x10 cab, as far as cone area goes. I'm not sure if that's quite apples-to-apples though, as the drivers being so small might skew the math/comparison a bit?

Consider a PJB Bass Buddy into your existing cab(s)? It can run 15 watts into 4 Ohms. I've used it with a Schroeder 12" cube for DB and it's a great little rig. I'd say about on par with my PJB Briefcase. At the very least it doubles the volume of the DB itself, and obviously can help to just project sound in a different direction if you like.

It may sound silly, the 15 watts, but for anyone not familiar with wattage math, it's exponential. 10 times the wattage is required for double the volume with all else equal. 10x would be the 150w your GK is rated at.

A Bass Buddy is much cheaper than a whole new combo, and it's a great practice amp and preamp too. Or maybe a Bass Buddy (or DB direct) into the new SWR Amplite and your existing cab(s)? It's 400w, sized only 1/2 a 1u rackspace. 4 lbs I believe.

Emailed PJB about the basscub, and so I thought I'd share the response on here. BTW - Phil was lightning quick about getting back to me... very impressive.

From Phil:

Here are the answers to your questions.

The amp has 2 channels, yes? YES

Will both channels work thru the speakers at the same time? YES

How about both channels plugged and playing along to an MP3 via the AUX-IN? YOU CAN DO THIS

Can the amp/speakers handle all three inputs at once? YES but you must remember that the total power of the amp is then being split 3 ways so each signal would not be as loud compared to a single source.

Does the amp have a DI out? Pre-amp out? YES and YES

Does the amp have a built-in compressor/limiter? YES.

What's the projected price for the basscub, and when do you think they'll be available? $599.00 in USA and available now, direct from us. Payment can be done with almost any credit card.

The bass cub is really amazingly light and small. I was surprised by the volume I've got from this little shoebox. It sounds good, but the Briefcase (which has the weight of *two* Bass Cubs …) sounds a little bit better, IMO.
I will try the Bass Cub this weekend at an open air gig. We'll see!
