New ampeg speculation - A true B15 Reissue?

Edit; Also if you hate the b-15 that's ok. Different horses for different courses

I like the B-15.I said so a bunch of times. My first god amp was a B-15. I don't care for the SVT. I just mentioned that they aren't very loud, but Jimmy likes to point out how 25 watts is all you need. I'm not the only person who pointed out in this thread that a higher powered model would be preferable.

Regarding the tone stacks, they don't sound the same, regardless of the topology.

Yeah I'd like to see a 100 watt version, but don't know if that's their goal with the reissue.

i have to agree with that statement. the topology is similar, but the voicings aren't.

however, 25w is all -I- need, and if it's not enough for you, there are plenty of amps out there for you. this one is for those of us whom 25w IS enough. sorry they didn't include you in on it, but they didn't so quit whining ;)

Kids: remember Rule #1 here is interact with mutual respect.
Let's lay off the name calling, and quoting thereof.
I've gone back and cleaned some of that up.

discuss, disagree, do so politely.

thanks.

I do hope though that they don't put some big "heritage series" logo right on the front of the cab or anything. One thing about that series of ampeg is that they not only sound great, but they look so damn cool. It'd be like seeing giant hip-hopper rims on a '57 chevy or something. Or similar to when Fender slapped that ugly new logo on the TV series amps.
lol! come on, the heritage logo isn't THAT bad. i actually like it because it looks like the old 50's ampeg logo. don't know if it has it but certainly not a deal breaker for me.

I understand that. But I think most people's car stereos are more than 25 watts. I know my Monsoon computer speakers are.

25 Watts equals 14dBW.

A 25Watt amp is plenty for guitar since they like to crank them up. *I* like a bit more headroom than that.

But $899 would be much better, of course.

Now we're really talkin! :D

I've already admitted to never having the opportunity to play any of the B-15's. I'll let you guys in on another secret: I've also never owned a tube amp, a 15" cab or even an Ampeg. *gasp!* I tell you what though... If this reissue sounds as good as the sound in my head and they hit $899 for a street price........

I'd probably buy two.

I understand the handmade-ness of this amp and I (sort of) understand being able to command a higher price for it simply because they can. Maybe limited-run boutiqueness is their goal with this reissue, who knows? I do realize that $899 is probably (sadly) unrealistic of course, but hitting a price that's more reasonable ($1299?) and in reach of more Average Joe bass player will sell more units.

If I remember right the B-15r (the previous re-issue) had an MSRP over $2,000 and retail prices in the $1,500+ range.

I can't see a hand built classic series re-issue going for less than $2,000.

you're whining again ;)

i don't want to influence ampeg's decision about the price, but my guess is that it's going to list at $2499 with a street price of $1.8-$2K.
well unfortunately that would let me out of contention if that were the case, but honestly, after the car repair bills i have to spend next week and the work slowdown i'm about to have, i couldn't get one anyway. but them's the breaks. no sense complaining about prices imho. besides, not like i'm hurting for double baffle goodness.

And many people with loud equipments get tinnitus or become deaf before they reach 30.

I mean, my dog is probably way taller than your cat, but what's the point ? If volume and loudness were only a matter of wattage, how more simple things would be.

Looks like the real vintage ones in excellent condition go for 1,000/1,500. If the reissue hits the street at 2,500, then the vintage ones will see their appraisals go way higher then.

I just found this one on ebay. Seller is asking $2,289 plus $140 shipping. But I didn't check any completed listings to see how his asking price compares to what's actually sold.

EDIT: Okay, just searched completed listings and these sell for a lot less than this guy's asking price. Looks like your $1,000 to $1,500 range was spot on!
