New ampeg speculation - A true B15 Reissue?

With only 50 being made, I think "Missing In Action" is a better use of the M.I.A. acronym.

Do people really care about things being made in the US anymore? Really?
oh, i think there are people out there who absolutely do. these amps aren't going to have a hard time selling. true, it'll sell to mostly the higher income bracketed folks, but they'll buy it. it's pretty much going to be an instant collector's item, and being all usa made will have a lot to do with it.

that said, i've long ago accepted that some things i buy will be made in other countries in order for me to afford them, so i certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at a stripped down imported tube b-15. as long as it had the circuit and a good cab, i'd be down. the single baffle and thiele b-15's were all stripped down from the previous versions and they turned out great.

Well, that would make them 100% assembled in the USA... I highly doubt you'll ever see an amp that is 100% Made in the USA.
so i guess he should start up a tube factory in the us somewhere so he doesn't have to use jj's? come on, now you're just trying to be outrageous on the internet.

No - I have no problem with the fact that it's basically impossible to build a tube amp that is 100% Made in the USA.

I just find it silly when people claim something is 100% Made in the USA when it's blatantly obvious it isn't.

Assembled in the USA from mostly USA sourced components? Sure, I'll believe it. 100% Made in the USA? Nope, not buying it.

Being a manufacturer and repair guy myself I can attest... there is almost no way for any manufacturer to heed the 100% MIA mark. I'm sure nary a resistor, socket, switch nor tube is actually made in the USA...

That all being said It's nice to know "much" of the manufacturing of these amps is USA born. I just wish the law was tighter for disclosure of percentage. It would be nice to have the breakdown available.

well it's like my dad always says..."some people would complain if you hung them with a new rope." as for me, this is all registering as a big "whatever."

I hope Ampeg realizes the risk to claim "100% Made in the USA" when they're not. They'll end up on some news show. The US citizens are becoming very sensitive and wise to the situation. It's a world economy, and you can't source all your parts for some old technology remake in the US. Nor can you source parts for new technology amplifiers in the US. I'm seeing more "Assembled in the US" labels, which is good and honest.

george's comment notwithstanding, ampeg's official designation is "made in the usa." it legally qualifies as "made in the usa," not "assembled in the usa" and that's why they use "made in the usa." if you can look at that amp and whine about how a couple tubes and a handful of resistors may have been made somewhere else, then maybe you ought to get out more. i don't know how much more made in the usa an amp can get.

If made in America is that big a deal, hopefully I can continue to pick up vintage Orange heads for chump change. :D

Cost-wise, it will probably come pretty close to 100%. With all the high-dollar components (chassis, cab, speaker, transformers) made in the USA, and the assembly done in the USA, that's nearly 100% by cost. Ten dollars worth of foreign resistors and caps has no effect on the quality.

It is easy to source all your parts for an amp from the USA. From wire to resistors to capacitors to boards to the chassis and transformers. I do it all the time. Sometimes I use a Hammond chassis or transformers and PEC pots that are made in Canada. These are superior parts.

If Ampeg claims that they are sourcing their parts from the US, I have no reason not to believe them. It can easily be done.
