I've come full circle from my days of wanting a studio clean monitor sound to something like what you describe only did it with someone else's design...My thoughts too, especially with how close the SGT-DI can get to the clean B15 sound (in demo videos I've seen). 100w-200w into a 1x12" or 1x15" combo would be pretty sweet IMO...for the right price![]()
In the grand scheme of bass players, very few want to deal with a separate power amp and then have a pedal for their preamp. This makes total sense for a cost-effective solution for the vast majority of non-TB bassists who just want an amp and cab that sounds good. Pros and gear snobs are a different category and definitely not the bread-and-butter of Ampeg sales.
Why would they put the SGT DI in an amp and leave out the CAB IR feature that makes Darkglass still stand out above everyone else? A missed opportunity in my opinion.
Because that mic'd cabinet thing is a tone choice for some. It is different than the DI sound. Like the difference between playing direct into an amp and putting a bunch of pedals between the bass and amp.And if going direct is better why would anyone want a simulation of miked cabinet?

I'm sure they will sell a lot of these, curious to hear how you like them when they arrive. Seems like Ampeg/Yamaha have a winner with this line.I just preorder the V7, so that happened lol. Don't mind buying the head sight unseen, or unheard I guess. I'll probably get either the VB-210 or VB-212. Hope the GC near me gets some in stock cause I really need to try them both out to decide, especially at those prices.

Choices my friend, choices.

The specs seem to be only for 4 ohm, no specs for 8 ohm, or 2 ohm, also wish they added those front bumpers like the PF 500 800 have for protection.
Yes!The sound that a cab puts out can be 1/2 or more of what the amp (alone) puts out and that is a fact.
The V7 and V12 not being 2ohm stable is a major fail in my book.
No excuse at this point.
I do like the specs and the more vertical approach on the 212. I look forward to looking at one of the 212 cabs in about 6-7 years when used ones fall into my price range.
Let them "work out the bugs" first.Ya mean when they are proven and not deemed "retired"?
