New Amplitube 5 Coming Soon!

OK... so why do I seem to be the only one here having issues, yet again?

The stand alone version takes 5 or more minutes to load, and now when I open a project in Cubase - it takes an equal amount of time. Was also a bit of challenge to FIND in my Cubase plugins. I updated all plugins, Amplitube 5 was listed - but somehow it hid itself in the "other" section in the Insert menu. I had to open that up in order to find it (see screenshot below)

And then there's this. Is this all that's visible for others when they open it in their DAW? There is no way that I can find to enlarge this or get a full picture. I grabbed and pulled at the edges, looked for scroll bars... Seems A5 is getting cut off at the bottom. And yes, I've started, restarted, rebooted, etc.

Help anyone?

Maybe if you went into the Product Manager and de authorize then authorize A5. I don't know if this will clear your GUI window problem but it is worth a try. If that doesn't work I would un-install and re install the software as there is something wrong there.

Check your scaling in windows. Make sure it is at 100% and 150 or 300%. If you have a 4k setup it will scale to 300% automatic.
I don't think its past 100%, but even if it were - I never experienced that problem with any other app or software. If I made my screen any smaller I wouldn't be able to see squat, too :) . I don't want to have to reconfigure things just for A5. I will try reauthorizing. I should probably get involved in the IK forums too, so I don't have to keep bugging you guys with this stuff.

On the lighter side of things, it sounds freaking awesome. There are some very inspiring sounds in there for guitars.

I'm getting some great sounds mixing bass heads with guitar cabs, too.

My only suggestion before you unistall and reinstall would be to check the VST. I know in Reaper it shows Ik Multimedia Amplitube 5 a couple times in plugins. One is vst3 and one vst, either one works in Reaper cause of its ability to bridge (what ever that means). Im not familiar with Cubase, but maybe check on that and in preference maybe direct it to the proper vst. Just a suggestion before having to download it again and reinstall. I have to direct Harrison mixbus sometimes to the proper location of plugins. Sometimes the DAW scan for plugins cant always find them.

It's settled
IK's VIR Tech totally blows away all the other IR implementations out there.
Just like in real like, a Recording or FOH engineer knows a little mic movement can make a big difference in sound. IK has captured this.
And the fact that sound reflects off the front of the cone to the mic, so a mic on the bottom of the cabinet picks up sound reflected off the floor and back into the mic. It's all there, just a little or major mic movement - it tracks them all.
600 IR's per mic, per cab, they got all the placement and interactions.

It also dispels a lot of myths about floor coupling that continues to perplex people as they try to buy isolation pads that do nothing in real life.

I use Reaper and all plugins can be found under Amplitube 5 after clicking on FX, I had no problems whatsoever in Reaper finding Amplitbe 5 plug ins.

I too have found all amps/cabs etc now sound more realistic compared to A4 after IK have tweaked them for A5. And the VIR technology gives endless possibilities in cab tone.

I didn't read the whole thread to see if the answer is there. I researched the web and cannot find the answer.

Can Amplitude, or any other, be used in conjunction with YouTube? I really want to box up my amp and just go with the PC. I only play at home.

Thanks

I did a minor upgrade and got some of the features of AT5. I was able to run it side by side with AT4 to compare tones.
First, the GUI is a big deal. You don't realize how clunky AT4 is until you use AT5 for an hour. Finding gear is so much easier.
The tones are different. I can't say better or worse, but definitely different. Some of the bass amp/cab models are more natural sounding. The SVT CL and Orange AD200 going into their appropriate cabs sound less nasal. The MB150 is more robust in the low mids. I haven't tried the new DB750 sim yet.
The guitar tones were a mixed bag. They seem less compressed and in your face, but some of them sound almost too far away. Or the distortion voicing is just wrong. Since guitar amp sims are super common, I could compare AT4, AT5, and some free third party versions of the Mesa Dual rectifier, Marshall 8000 series, Peavy 5150, and Engl Powerball. The Peavey sims were all very similar. The Marshall sims were close, but no matter what I did with AT5, the amp sounded far away and hard to push. The Mesa sim in AT5 didn't sound like any Mesa I've come in contact with. They are infamous for their scooped, ballsy tone. The AT5 version has a lot of mids and a weird crunch in the gain waveform that isn't usually there. The Engl has so many controls that it is hard to compare apples to apples. They all had insane amounts of gain.

My biggest gripe is still the lousy selection of bass gear. One Orange head. No Mesa heads. No Eden. One goofy Gk. Only one 212 cab. No DG gear. I don't know when manufacturers are going to figure out that bass players have money too. In most bands the ratio of guitar players to bass players is 1:1 or 2:1. That means at minimum there should be at least 50% as much bass "stuff" available as guitar "stuff" (amps, cabs, plugins, strings, instruments, etc.)

Maybe you should be looking at what you actually get in Amplitube rather than what is not there, or maybe take a look at what the other guitar sims are offering and you will find also that their selection of amps/cabs are lacking in variety. For me I am happy with the Ampeg stuff and there is a good selection of other brands there too. They cannot include every amp/cab on the market and for me personally I ain't interested one bit in Mesa or Eden just like the majority of Bassists. I would say currently Universal Audio have the best sounding amp/cab sim going but I think you only get three Ampeg amp/cabs with their sim so you would be disappointed in that too.You could always go to IK's forum and add what you want in their wish list section, but amps/cabs only get added based on popularity so obviously the amps that you would like to see are just not popular enough.

I find that i am using` the Amplitube 5 more as an insert in other DAW's instead of the stand alone. Just sounds better to me in Mixbus or Reaper. I have tried a lot of plugins and my favorites are the Ampeg SVX 1&2 with Ampeg cabs. I also use the Markbass suite from Overloud, which is another favorite of mine

These are all great bass sims that i use. The Ampeg SVX is my go to most of the time with the Markbass in 2nd place. If you are a slapper, the Eden is great. The Duality, Peridot and Sphene are mostly heavy grind. Darkglass also has a couple nice ones, but pretty expensive. Forget who makes it, but i tried it out and liked it but it was almost as much as buying the real DI.
1. Eden WT-800 by Softube
2. Markbass by Overloud
3. Cerebus by Kuassa
4. Duality Bass Studio by Audio Assault
5. Peridot and Sphene by Audified
6. Reddi by Kush

I've been using AT4 for 2 years, so I am well aware of what is in it. And what isn't.
Like everything else in the MI world, when it comes to plugins, bass players are just supposed to use whatever someone is willing to give them.
