New Avatar Cabs are up on the site

My guess is, your issue was with the head, which for the most part are 'underpowered' and extremely voiced, with huge deep low end extension that brings many cabs to their knees. The 'inefficient' thing you were hearing IMO was the lameness of the output of those heads (again, for the most part), versus that particular cab (although the SPL was relatively low for that cab from what I remember).
It's dangerous to attribute overall results to a specific component without doing some mix and match A/Bing

Wouldn't surprise me at all. To my knowledge, Avatar has a very small marketing budget; I don't see ads for their products anywhere. Their sales pretty much depend on word of mouth. "Word of mouth" these days pretty much means the Internet. Forums like TB can make or break a product...at least during it's initial introductory phase.
Side note: Avatar would really be doing themselves a favor by facelifting their website...maybe even getting a proper shopping cart. And definitely getting more data/pics of the cabs out there.
Yeah, hopefully he's changing the description to say the ten is crossed over and in its own enclosure or something along those lines, lol.
That and hopefully he switched the 1x15 to the compact cabinet

The original goal of a new cab with a 15 was to hit an affordable price point of about $299 -$350. The two way, 15 /10 single chamber cab actually sounds very good in person and we still may make it available but for now, we'll shelve it and focus on plan B which is a traditional 15" 3 way.
The new 3 way would consist of the top of the line Eminence NEO 15, Eminence sealed back mid, standard compression tweeter, full 12 db mylar crossover at 500Hz and 5KHz, tweeter volume control, dual speakon and dual 1/4 in and outs. This improved cab will be even lighter and more balanced sounding.

Hi Dave. Thanks very much for posting and clearing things up. That new 3-way looks to be a really good idea...especially the sealed-back mid. Looking forward to seeing what you put out there. I think I'll wait on purchasing a B210 to go along w/my B212; if the new 3-way turns out to be great, I'll get one of those instead.

I find it frustrating when so many criticize a product when they have never owned a small manufacturing business and also have no idea what it takes to design, market, and build products let alone all the over head costs, admin functions, etc.
Would making this cab a 2-way offer a significant cost savings?
Might be worth offereing this as an option as I believe that there may be equal or more demand for this type of cabinet (based on what is talked about here as well as what the competition is pursuing)

sounds great dave, i'm sure the final product product will be top notch as usual looking forward to it! When they are availible i'm confident you will have many great reviews based on actual users instead of speculation as it should be.
Wow, I was only kidding in my post about the " power of TalkBass ", but maybe I was on to something. Anyway, if we do in fact see the 3 way 15/6/1, I'll be interested in just what top of the line Eminence Neo 15, Dave is talking about, along with the pricepoint.

Read, read, and read some more, especially the fEarful threads. The power rating isn't moot, but it might as well be. It is not what determines low frequency output capability. That is determined by the combination of driver displacement, frequency response and sensitivity.I was only curious about the wattage
Very , very cool , now I'm interested . Good going Dave , that three way cab will put your company ahead of the curve over 90 percent of the cab manufacturers out there as far as good design .
