New Avatar Cabs are up on the site

The big kicker for me is using the 30% lighter poplar, but if he used poplar I would buy a pair empty in a heartbeat and retrofit for my needs.

3/4" birch is the #1 reason for me not owning a pair of Avatar Sb112s :) Even 1/2" birch would be amazing, or ACX.

I've been thinking of dropping a 3012LF into my old SB112. Mine wasn't even the neo version and I thought it pretty light as it was. As the cab is right now, it's an end-table in our practice room,...but I think it might make for a nice little keyboard speaker for my keys guy.

I just started using one of my SB112 Neos for that application. Your keyboardist will like it.

haven't been hanging out here at TB much lately, for good reason,, but this thread reminds me of ARod of the Yankees preseason last year,, all the bad press,,, every body talking smack, all thru the preseason.

opening day, ARod walks outta the duggout to all the boo's & jeers, from both the crowd & announcers,,, walks up to the plate,,, first pitch,,, BAM !!! HOME RUN !!! THE CROWD goes WILD !!!! EVERYBODY LOVES ARod !!!

Dave @ Avatar
ARod @ Yankees

same thing,, just different :rollno:

Wait a second...Dave has been on TB for years and has been building well thought of and inexpensive cabinets for years. While we are critical of the cab as posted, it certainly wasn't 'talking smack'. Dave addressed the commentary, and pulled the cab and went back to the drawing board.

As of right now, there have been no home runs, but Dave has a great RBI average already.

yes, have talked with Dave numerous times ,, have ordered numerous cabs from him in different configurations.

wasn't implying that you personally was " talking smack ",, it's just a general direction that the thread was headed towards,,, being overly critical & nitpicking a cab that does not even exist :hmm:

& i'd personally have to say that Dave's been a Home Run Hitter for a number of years now,, putting out a quality product, at a decent pricepoint, still in production & in the game in this economy, ( that right there deserves an ATTA-BOY )

imo, when Dave puts a 3-way out there, i'm sure it'll add to the scoreboard

Usually just to hear himself on stage.

Part of the problem is that he has to set up next to a dude who plays a fEarful 15/6 who usually has to carry the room by himself. :atoz:

For a utility infielder that is good....
It's a budget line, and there is absolutely nothign wrong with that.. As Bill has mentioned he uses GREAT drivers for the money. This should be a good "crossover" product to get some higher end "techie" customers.

Thanks to all you guys for the valuable feedback. I really appreciate it and take it all very seriously.
The original goal of a new cab with a 15 was to hit an affordable price point of about $299 -$350. The two way, 15 /10 single chamber cab actually sounds very good in person and we still may make it available but for now, we'll shelve it and focus on plan B which is a traditional 15" 3 way.
The new 3 way would consist of the top of the line Eminence NEO 15, Eminence sealed back mid, standard compression tweeter, full 12 db mylar crossover at 500Hz and 5KHz, tweeter volume control, dual speakon and dual 1/4 in and outs. This improved cab will be even lighter and more balanced sounding.
Again, THANKS for all of the great input.

Thanks Dave for your efforts in putting out a decent sounding cab at a good price. Question: You state you will be using a "top of the Line Eminence Neo 15" speaker. Are you speaking of Kappa lite 3015/3015LF?
I had problems with the Delta lite heating up and volume dropping due to compression at 1/3 volume (approx 150 watts RMS).

HI yes, the new 15 3 way will have the Eminence Kappalite 3015LF, Eminence 6 inch sealed back mid custom made to be higher wattage than the stock one, Foster tweeter, full 12 dB mylar crossover with tweeter padded down and with tweeter volume control, crossed at 800Hz and 5KHz with choice of 4 ohm or 8 ohm cab in our standard footprint enclosure. It takes 6 to 8 weeks to get the custom drivers from Eminence..then we should be shipping.
THANKS DAVE

You are the man.

I think you would probably wind up selling more of the SB112 w/3012LF + cbmr 6 model just for the record, since they are so convenient a size.
