New bass day!! Rickenbacker!!!

Beautiful. Congrats! That's the exact model/finish I was eying a little over a year ago. Ultimately decided against it due to the scale length (I prefer 30-31”) but if one ever pops up locally, used at a good price, I'll likely still go for it. They're just such classy looking basses and I do like the Rick sound too. Certainly wouldn't mind having one in the stable.

Ace of Spades dropped within a week of my birth, and I hope to get a 1980 Ric sometime. Enjoy, beardly brother in bass! :bassist:

My wife surprised me with a brand new Rickenbacker 4003S today. Had to share. It sounds as good as it looks. Very happy guy. The Motörhead shirt is a little cliche but hey it’s a Ric. View attachment 4379135

That’s fantastic! Absolutely wonderful that it was a surprise from your lady, and fitting because those softer-edge S models are so nice to hold. I’ve owned a 92 v63 in Fireglow for a number of years now and I just love playing it. The 4003s basses coming out have been as good as any era IMO and the necks are perfect.
Im a Motörhead fan too but If you ever go the flats route I suggest you try cobalt flats. They have a surprisingly wide frequency response that a Ric can make great use of.
Right on man! That made my day. E

Good on you for buying the right color, too!

Seriously, I have always thought that FireGlo is the proper Rick color![/

FireGlo is definitely my favorite Rickenbacker color .

Thank you for the kind words. I am a very lucky man in that my wife is as into music as I am. Additionally she has always been supportive of me getting bass gear. The Rickenbacker was very unexpected making it even more special.
