New bass or new pickguard?

I am going to test my band. I’m gonna pretend I have a “new” bass.
I have just changed the pickguard on my MIM Precision from whit to black.

I am going to take it to rehearsals on Thursday in a new(old) case I’ve just bought and ask the band if they like it more or less or the same or carrots. Will they take the bite?

I'd guess, that if you say nothing, they won't even notice.
So if you say it's a new bass, they'll believe you.

I guess as long as they don't ask, "Who's the new bass player," everything is fine.

Personally, I would never notice something like that unless prompted. You touch your tone control I'd be on it in a heart beat.

That said, I LOVE white basses with black guards. They scream 1978 to me. And that's a good thing.

I used to take a different bass to every rehearsal, many of which were not even FSO. The only one that would notice was the guitarist, because he was also a bassist.
