New Behringer Effects

The website has basically revealed what happened with the litigations and all that. They re-released the pedals but with the "Fantastic new look and feel!" and they moved most of all the release dates from 1st quarter to now currently stating 2nd quarter.

SO, what this tells me, in my "know nothing about the legal system" mind, is that they settled the litigation by changing the appearance enough to satisfy the courts...the only snag I ever saw that other companies took legal action on. Nobody seemed to seek legal action about the functionality or circuit design. Likely because they couldn't cuz if they could, they would have, of course.

And of course, all of you probably knew this already. :(

The genius part is they use this force of design appearance change as a marketing tool to add value! Don't you just love marketing?

SO, 2nd quarter! And I agree...June most likely will be the soonest.

As for quality? Hmm. I've never used Behringer's analog stuff. Anyone tried the only analog modeling they have which is their v-tone stuff for gu*tar? That would be some indication of what their bass-DI would probably sound like. I'm guessing the effects stompboxes would be similar to what they already use in the v-amps?

All the new pedals were copied from Boss, EHX, and Tech21 so they will sound more or less like what they're intended to sound like .

The v-amp is a bit of a strange beast. While the idea of it was copied from the pod it really sounds nothing like the pod (no, that doesn't mean it sounds worse) and is setup completely different.

I think a lot of the litigation came from the fact that Behringer used trademarked names on their website when they first debuted these pedals. When they first popped they all said "made to sound like an EHX big muff" and stuff like that.

Hmm. When I read all the articles and litigation stuff, everyone was talking about how confusion was likely in stores with what they are trying to model when you would look at their pedals/products and see that they were less expensive. Therefore, the design of the construction/look was way too similar as to cause confusion. Hence the "fantastic new look and feel". And if you really think about it, why change the "look and feel" of stuff they had already spent so much time, energy, and money planning, UNLESS it would cost you more to keep it that way (aka getting sued and losing).

And yeah, that sentence a la generic drug companies sounds like it might just work! "Active ingredient" is a pretty useful term!

And as we all know of modelers, just because they're intended to sound like a specific item being modeled, doesn't always come out to sound like what they are SHOULD have sounded like. I guess what I was asking about in terms of sound was quality in model. Is it right on the money? Close? Not even close? Far and away like Tom Cruise?

I've got the BX3000 head. I like it so far. I do plan replacing it with a poweramp and Sansamp BDDI pedal as the preamp but for $30.00 I have to try that Behringer BDI box first. If it's crap I can take the $30.00 loss without any grief.

Yup, tried looking for it too. They ain't there. :eyebrow:

Something drastic must have happened. I work with online retailers and it's both undesirable and a pain to yank items offline when you've spent lots of time getting them online. Hmm.

According to behringer's site the sansamp-copies are "now available." I did a quick google search and the only american website I could find listing them was bananas.com but it's a little unclear as to whether they actually have them. You've been able to order them on bananas for months and months.

Someone should email music123 and ask them whats up.
