New Behringer pedals *Haters keep out!!!*

In addition to some of my pedals being made by Behringer, my amp that I have right now is a Behringer Ultrabass BX1200. I've had it for about six-seven years. It's held up rather well. I think I'm starting to outgrow it, however. I picked it up only two years after picked up bass, mostly because my friend scored a Fender Deluxe and there was no way my little starter 15W Rogue amp was going to stand up to that. So, I got it mostly to give me a boost in power/volume. But now I can tell I'm itching for something a little better. At this point I'm looking for something with a better tone moreso than more power, but a little more power wouldn't hurt. All in all, it's been a good amp, plenty of low end, perfect for practicing by myself. I would definitely recommend a Behringer amp to someone starting out or for someone who doesn't plan on doing a whole lot of recording or playing a lot of gigs.

I'm really curious if the 'RSM' effects are digital or analog.

There are only so many ways of configuring electronic componants. I can see why other manufacturers would want to imply 'cheat', because their healthy profit margins are being undercut.

I know this thread is well over a year old, but since it was bumped I just had to take issue with this post. I'm far from a pedal snob and don't bash cheap pedals just because they are cheap (I've got a lot of mileage out of some very cheap ones) but Behringer is different. This isn't a case of Behringer making somewhat similar designs. What they do is reverse engineer other companies stuff (largely Boss), use pretty much the exact circuit with cheaper components where possible and then house it in a much cheaper frame so they can undercut the company they took the design from.

You can argue ethics all you want, but the BEST Behringer can be described as is the pedal building equivalent of a company making knockoff Rolex watches or fake boutique purses.

Danelectro makes a whole slew of really cheap pedals and nobody throws the same accusations at them. In fact, I used to own a Fab Tone distortion which was amazing for something that cost $15. While I don't buy Behringer, I have no problem with people who do. But there's no way to deny the fact that their business model is based around copying the designs of other companies.

it's not just octave up, it's distortion too, 2 modes are for different distortion types. the 3rd mode is volume boost, i don't know why

i love this pedal on guitar, sounds great, cheaper than any other octave up excluding danelectro

I know I'm digging up an old thread here, but I had to check- are you sure about the octave up in the Super Fuzz? I've been looking for an octave up, and can't seem to find the Danelectro one. Eveything else costs more than I can spare at the moment, so if the Super Fuzz will do it, I'd be mighty chuffed. I just can't find any other reference to this, even on the Behringer site!

i had the chance to check out the behringer vintage time machine yesterday. it's a deluxe memory man clone i think, and it was nice. it's made of solid metal and felt very substantial in my hands. it sounded really warm and organic and was capable of insane sounds, as well as fantastic analogue delays and modulations. it was fairly hard to find the right sound at first. the level and mix knobs were confusing, but i got it figured out. i didnt buy it only because of the size. it's HUGE and i would have to buy a 2nd pedal board just to fit it....lol. the bypass sounded pretty quiet and clean although i dont think it's true bypass. nice pedal though, and for 70 bucks new, it's a steal???

I have the behringer echo machine delay. it's great and can do all sorts of stuff really easy, and has tap tempo. the analogue and tape settings are great, and there is just one knob to control modulation or wow and flutter, respectively. it's really intuative and simple. it has a setting for "the edge" style dotted 7th. 40 bucks. highly recommended. the bypass isn't super clean, but it's no worse than any of the DOD or digitech non true bypass stuff.

these are the only 2 behringer pedals that i have tried, but both are pretty cool, and worth the money they are asking.

Good thread...for me. I was just looking at grabbing the Behringer DW400 Dynamic Auto Wah and wanted to check it out here first.

I personally tend to keep my bass sound clean and rarely use pedals, but want to start adding more when the song calls for one. I do own the Behringer Tuner which works fine and also the Multi-FX600, which has a decent chorus.

A couple stupid questions on this subject:

- When you guys look at Behringer (or any pedal), do you only look at pedals marked for BASS, or do you use any pedal that can be used for guitar?

- I love the sound that Flea gets with Sir Psycho Sexy and Power of Equality. I believe he used a QTron and/or DOD FX25 for those effects. Is there anything similar in the Behringer family? The sound for me doesnt have to be exact, just something similar.

You basically took any possibility of cheap labor affecting end product...think about that a second. If it is just the cheaper parts like you claim then why dont they all fail? Perhaps someone isnt as good with a soldering iron as they may think? Im gonna go out on a limb here and make the claim that perhaps cheap parts AND cheap labor can lead to a cheap product? And I dont mean affordable

Personally, I have no issues with Berhinger and in fact, own a Berhinger mixer, BA115B cabinet, Ultracoustic ACX450 acoustic guitar amp, BLE100 Bass Limiter/Enhancer, BCH100 Stereo Bass Chorus and a BOD100 Overdrive/Distortion. All of them do what I need at I need them to do at a reasonable price.

I only recently started experimenting with pedals and was able to get every Behringer pedal I own at a good price from e-Bay. In total, shipping included, I haven't spent $100 in total for all three.

I used to be a Quality Control Manager for several electronic manufacturing companies for over 25 years and I can assure you, that EACH and EVERY one of those companies looks to buy the CHEAPEST components they can in order to MAXIMIZE their profit margin. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that both Boss and Behringer buy their components from the same offshore manufacturers.

Have you ever cracked open one of their amps? How is the quality?

I had a small problem with mine, but a little solder and I was back in business.

Behringer chorus = plastic
Boss chorus = metal

Big difference on a piece of equipment that gets stepped on and plugged/unplugged regularly. Their products are also cheaper because they do not innovate, simply copy and put in a cheaper shell for the most part, as far as I can tell.. That's why some of their stuff is better than others, because many of the internal designs are taken from quality sources, but some won't stand up to wear as well as others. I have their MIDI foot controller and it does the trick, and would potentially buy other used behringer products, like a crossover or poweramp, but many of their pedals are built like toys, and I won't buy new and even shy away from their used gear due to reasons I cant really discuss on tb... overall it just depends on what you're using the stuff for, and some of their stuff can be great for the money.

I use the BLE100 Limiter Enhancer at every gig. I bought it used on a whim, plugged it in, twiddled, and really liked what it did to my tone. Smoothed it out and pepped it up. It's permanently on the pedal board. I keep meaning to test out the equivelant pedal from other manufacturers, but I'm not that motivated as the Behringer sounds great.
