Dude, lemme tell ya... It's fun. I got the gig because I had previous worked with two of the horn players doing some pit gigs for a couple local musicals, and the previous bass player had too much on his plate, so they asked me during an intermission on a run of Annie. Like yourself, I always wanted to be in a band like that, so naturally I jumped at the chance to audition! We play lots of Tower of Power, some Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Van Morrison, Ray Charles Big Band stuff, etc. It's a super fun gig!

Our vocalist snagged a video from our last gig... an outdoor patio deal, about 98 degrees and then it rained, so pitch was a bit of an issue at times. lol This is our warmup/sound check/first song of the 4 hour set. This iteration of the band is still pretty new as well (long story, but it used to be a Steely Dan tribute band, then they split in half to form this band and another Dan tribute band).

Wouldn't this be very simple to test? Set up a CN-212 and a couple of quality 410 cabs side by side. Use the same amp and A/B/C them with a sound level meter.

While I tend to believe Ken, I would think a test like this would settle this dispute.

I know, right?! The band leader(s) decided that the band should wear all black and the vocalists have "free reign." He was sort of dressed for the day and we were all sweating our b*lls off.

I'll have to bring that policy up and we may have to revisit, given your feedback right there. lol

I would love that gig. There is nothing like playing behind a full horn section. You are defintely holding down the groove, Great Job.

I was hanging with fivestringgecko for part of the time while he was doing his cab shoot out, and what impressed me was how these Berg cabs are so versatile. He plays in a much different style than I do, and he got all the great slap and high end tone he wanted. Meanwhile, I can get all the creamy, thumpy low end finger style with flats tone I want. I really can't imagine a situation where these cabs wouldn't work great.

Yeah man, it was cool to have your ears/opinions for that, and that's exactly why I went with the Bergs. The Aggie 1x12s sounded good, but didn't have quite enough snap available. (Read as, I may not always use it, but it's nice to have it on hand). After you left is when I started to get more into the fingerstyle stuff. I need the snap/slap/clarity sound for my urban gospel group, and the funk band calls for much more vintage... I play a Pbass with that group and usually have the tone knob at about 50%. The Bergs seemed to handle both ends of the spectrum better than the other cabs.

On a sad note, I got a message from the UG group about tonights "rehearsal." We're doing a photo shoot for our upcoming CD release, so we're not actually playing tonight. No CN stack trial run!

THIS... is one of the best things about the CN series in IMO. You can dial in a nice tasteful modern tone (classic berg IME)or dial things back to a nice authentic vintage sound. At either end of the spectrum, this cab delivers the tone with a nice supportive quality.
