amazing what 2-12s can pull off- but I've found their limit for sure. If you play large shows, have a loud stage sound, and prefer your amps tone to the monitors tone you will find their limits as well. Of course these are "strange" gigs ;)

I'm playing more and more "strange" gigs- ie large outdoor gigs with large stage sound. Played Thursday night outdoors on the beach- about 700 in attendance. Huge sound system with subs- FOH house sounded great. Bass through the monitors sounded meh. Band asked me to turn up multiple times- playing reggae/dub, rockabilly swing, 70s funk etc- with a loud drummer the 2 112s just couldn't keep up (made a solid effort though). Had to rely on the monitors which was fine but not preferable. I depend on the monitors when I'm at the mic doing backing vocals- but when I stagger to the back of stage my cab tone is where it's at....

2 CN212s or even 3 HD112s may be in my future, but then I need to re-think my amp as well to get down to 2 OHMs. It never ends ;)

Genz Benz ShuttleMax 12.2?
Preamp + Poweramp?

that's a solid suggestion! I've toured all over with an Aguilar DB680 into a QSC 3002 plus all kinds of cabs. I'm no longer on tour and now typically carrying my own gear, hence the 2 single 12s. Still play some big shows and need some big guns, just hate dragging big gear along ;) Two main bands- one is americana/country/soul- I can play some sets with one HD112, the others no problem with the 2 HD112s. The other band (covers/originals- corporate, private party, free for all) is a different beast- great players, but all still like to push the limits, push their gear, get loud, get rowdy, and make things shake. I dig it- but I need to carry big bass (nothing wrong with that either). I can dig playing really loud- especially with players who have their **** wired tight- feels damn good....

Same here with a couple my bands. I NEED to have at LEAST a 212, but usually try & use my NV412. That provides a good solid bottom end.

yeah, 412s would handle all of my gigs with ease. Today I'm playing a smaller music festival and the back line is provided- my stuff is still in the rig though so if it's terrible I'll use the bergs!!

I finally bought a CN112 today. Sounds great on it's own. I daisy chained it to my HD112 and was really blown away with how full, deep and rich it sounded. If you have an HD112 sitting around and are wondering how it will pair with a CN112, I think you'll find as a couple of others on this thread and I have, that it makes for a great little stack.

Happy NB(ergie)D. Now, for those with strong stomachs, I played my HD112 on top of an NV115 today. Two great tastes may not necessarily go great together, but some idiot will be bound to try them. I steel myself for the harangue.... ;)

I DEFINITELY need your feedback on those two cabs!! I'm thinking about replacing my HD112s with 2 NV115s.

Context: I'm thinking long and hard (ok political way to say I have GAS) about revamping my live rig(s) from my trusty old Eden Metro combo sometimes paired with a 4 Ohm Eden D212XLT. Sometimes I use an Eden WT400 with the D212XLT. (I swear both the combo and cab are gaining weight in their old age since it can't be me getting older! :ninja)

I'm very intrigued by the CN212. Since it's relatively new, very few used ones seem to become available. No surprise. They seem to be holding their value better than just about any other item I've seen. In fact, they appear to command 90% or more of their original price. I hope this is not interpreted as "trolling". By no means is that my intent. It seems like the right thread to ask, as I certainly don't want to hijack or otherwise interfere with any classified threads.

My question: Does Bergantino allow for transfer of remainder of manufacturer's warranty from original owner to a new owner? If that is the case, it might make sense to save a few bucks. Otherwise, for me it would be the rare case where I'd prefer buying brand new from a dealer.

Rarity, high resale price, and expensive shipping make a pretty compelling case to trundle down to Bass Club and go for a new one. You've got some seriously heavy gear! The CN212 will be such a breeze in comparison.

That's my feeling at the moment! (Except it's rough to schedule time outside of working hours away from the 3 little [DEL]monsters[/DEL] ones and their [DEL]monster[/DEL] mom for the 90+ minute round trip drive from home to BCC and back!)

Yes. As would my other contenders: 4 ohm GB NX2 212 or 4 ohm GK MBE212-II. Help me justify the price difference beyond GAS for a cab that says Bergantino on it!? ( I know this is the thread/crowd that can do it!)

Yup, plenty of us have monsters to contend with, and 90+ minutes is a bit grim. But I suppose we should count ourselves fortunate that we have premium shops in shooting distance, as many don't.

Can't really help you with the price justification, as there is, in my opinion, no doubt that the GK is the best 'bang for the buck'. But I really think there is something special about the CN212, and it's definitely worth the price.

Those other cabs are quite good. As many have posted, the GK is an impressive cab for the money. The crossover and top end have little in common with the smooth Berg CN circuit, and the output of the CN212 will be significantly higher when really pushed (from my indirect comparison with the same head and bass). Nice though, and for those on a budget and/or those who don't mind a more typical 'metallic tweeter' top end, they would work find.

The Genz 212 is a VERY good 212 (the current model with the Faital drivers), and the current version is definitely a contender. Again, the crossover and voicing is not as smooth and even, and I HATE those top handles and those little tilt back wheels, but I feel it is even a better value for the money than the GK... yes, more expensive, but seems to have better push and max volume, and a somewhat better top end (smoother, more integrated).

Like anything else, if you have the cash (I understand that is a big 'if'), I continue to find the CN212 the best cab I've personally ever used based on size, weight, voicing, max output, weight, 'aesthetics', service and support, etc. Is it worth the additional cash... hard to say for others. For me, absolutely, but I'm lucky enough to not really be on a budget.

I would be pretty sure you wouldn't lose any gigs nor be 'miserable' with the GK 212 if you are on a strict budget. Nice box.

$1000 has a different meaning to Bill Gates than it does your fast food restaurant worker that said...

The GK NEO 212 is going to get you 90% there, I bet tonally they aren't far off, same for wattage, size & weight. CN212 is clearly the winner in all categories but in a mix is it going to be that obvious? Probably not. For Bill Gates the extra $1000 bucks for that possible difference, he will do it, a few others on here who make the big bucks as well. If I were on a fast food budget, the difference is not worth it.

Those GK NEO cabs are incredible & they are what I rock with no issues at all. I grapple the debate of which is more important to me, the $ or the difference between the 2. Right now the GK NEOs are just too good for me to justify the CN212 being $1200 better. For me I'd be a buyer of a used CN212 at around $800 like the AE212s are selling for so I'm going to wait a while.

I had the cn212 and gk212 sitting right next to each other and soundwise, there was no comparison. THe cn cost twice as much but, it sounded twice as good and put out alot of volume. Id rather play one cn than a pair of gk212's. The gk sounded big in the bottom, weak in the punch department, but the upper mids were pretty good. I think that cab should be smaller and tuned differently. The berg is better in this case.

Great feedback. I think I'll start (yet another) thread describing my application, intentions, and head/cab candidates. I'm generally reluctant to start "me too" threads when there are lots of posts on the subjects, but I've read through nearly everything I could find here on TB regarded the equipment I have in mind and still am uncertain. Like they say for building high performance air cooled Porsche engines: "It's all in the combination"

I can agree with the GK tone department there. I can get it very punchy with the right amp & cab. I'm surprised to hear that the CN212 is that light in the lows, I wouldn't consider the GK big in the bottom so thats fairly alarming that its bigger in the lows.

GK NEO 115s are much more grindy cabs, more mids & less lows. I'm wondering how close my GK NEO 115 stack is to the CN212 now
