New Bergantino Neo Line; Pt. 2

replaced my former, beloved Bergantino AE410 which I always loved. The CN212 somehow just seems 'complete'. Not that i felt anything was missing from my former AE410. I simply LOVE what I am hearing from the CN212~!
Yes, the CN212 officially lives up to all the hype, ....and exceeds my wishes and expectations!
I would feel the same way about the CN212 if I only played 4/5 string basses...this cab is the real deal and sounds great! But I play a lot of six string bass and both the CN212 and AE410 sound great with the 4 and 5ver, but when I go into the C string range with my 6 the AE410 is smoother and more balanced, (crossover points with the cab itself, and the 10's instead of the 12's.) Maybe for us 6 string players Jim will come out with a CN410
I'm not holding my breath, but maybe with the success of this CN series there could be one within the next 12-24 months.

Will do. It's first gig will be Saturday. It will be replacing my HT/EX112 cabs. What really paved the way for me getting the 212 is how well my EA wizzy 10 has been doing for small things like rehearsals and jazz combo stuff. I had to fight with the idea of loosing a 112 to grab for these things, but the EA really does well. Now it will be a single (light) 212 for everything except for very small things and bouts of extreme laziness where the very capable wizzy will do.
Just played a loud outdoor festival with my CN212 Sunday night. I've played this venue 4 times with different rigs (w/ FOH and no sound check) and the CN was a 'game changer' for me this year!
Previously, I have always had trouble with EQ and clarity/projection on this stage. With the CN212... It was literally plug and play for a glorious punchy and clear tone across the stage. No EQ needed whatsoever, Walkabout gain & master at 10 o'clock small boost on the passive mid... Beautiful. My bass has never sounded better on a gig!

I too also find the AE410 still very gratifying. I'm repressing my urge to toss it in the classifieds although my CN212 is still getting all the action. I know other have sold their AE410's since acquiring the CN212...you guys still out there? Any regrets? Ken?
I sold my AE410 to fund a CN212. Zero regrets. The CN212 does everything i wanted from my AE410. But better for my tonal preferences
If you can, play it a good amount before the gig. It does need to be broken in.
I thought I played mine enough (a good couple of hours) and about 45 minutes into the first set it fully broke in. My sound completely changed into a huge low end, too much actually as I was EQing it in as well.
The soundguy wasn't too happy for the remainder of that set. I re-EQ'd it for the next set and it was killer. Nothing but compliments from everybody, and the soundguy was shocked at how full it sounded. He did not have me in the PA and still said it sounded like I was in the subs.

Thanks for that. I noticed the AE410 seems "wider deeper" in the lower lows. Do you find you can dial in what lows you need on CN212 without beating the daylights out of it?
I would say this...keep the 410 if your playing 6 string or anything with a high C string, or soloing in the higher register a lot.... otherwise the CN212 is so similar to the AE410 except in the higher ranges....at least to my ear, and a few other bassists in the room at the time I A/B them.
I've never played an AE410, but I have an AE212. The AE212 definitely has more lows than the CN212, but that doesn't mean the CN doesn't have enough.
I find that it takes EQ very well. I usually have my bass knob somewhere in the 11:00 - 1:00 range, depending on the room. More than enough lows for me, I think it sounds awesome. I usually dial in a bunch of mids, both low and high and it fills in the meat very well.
The cab is so efficient that I honestly find it difficult to beat on it, it's just way too loud IME. I have yet to really crank an amp into it, despite playing quite a few outdoor gigs with it. For example, we played an outdoor gig this past weekend. On my 400+ the channel volume was at "5" and the master was between "1" and "2" and it was pretty loud. Towards the end of the gig I said to myself "**** it, I'm turning up" and I put the master on "2" and drowned out the rest of the band with ease. I had to back it down to where I was at. I can't imagine how loud it would have been if I had the master up half way.
I'd love to take a B15 head to a gig and see how it does. I'm willing to bet that it would be dirty, but plenty loud for "only" 30w into this thing.

okay, more words: The CN212 sounds wider and deeper in the lows to my ears compared with the AE410 which I thought was a bit tighter and more focused.
The Low end on the CN212 can take all the bass eq I'd ever want to throw at it (Which isn't much.) The CN212 is so well balanced it doesn't need much low end EQ. I only bump the Active low eq on my Nordy when I favor the Bridge PU and want just a bit more punch with the growl that I get from the bridge PU.
I find the CN212 to be just as 'quick' as my AE410 cab. But better overall balance from lows to highs.

Out of curiosity, was there some reason (other than the obvious financial savings) that you preferred the CN212 over a couple of CN112s? A CN112 meets the needs of the lazy bass player extremely well.

Good question. Money was a big reason, but I like the idea of just having one cab. I found with my single 12's I was only ever grabbing one of them for the "in between" gigs where 2 would have been nice but not absolutely necessary. The schlep seems so easy with the CN212 that when just grabbing one... It might as well be that.
