New Carvin P bass, about time?

The online bass builder is usually way behind the curve on things. It's at least good to know that they'll do that as an option.

bass just arrived - pictures later. Luckily ok as UPS driver set it down upside down then flipped right side up dropping it on its tail.
BTW - I really like the new soft case - protected the bass well from the above experience. Who knows how many other knocks it took getting here.

My PB4 is soon also shipping in the new soft case.
I am curious: Did Carvin take any extra measures, like first wrapping the bass in bubble wrap, before enclosing the bass in the soft case and then the carton?

Ooooh, well, I hope it comes on time! The first Carvin bass I bought, they never sent the notice. It just arrived one day!

Check your credit card statement. If they don't send a postcard, you'll definitely know it's coming when they charge you the balance.
Just FYI: there a pic on Carvin's Fb page (in a recent 'Pics of the Day' album; pretty sure it was 1-2-14) of a natural-finish B50 with split P and jazz-style pickups (the HB humbucker's a bridge option on that model, too). That means the P is definitely an option on the B series basses -- hugely welcome since I, for one, much prefer a 22-fret neck (B40) over a 20-fret neck (PB4), and would rather not have a pickguard:

I'd imagine that if wouldn't have gone onto their Facebook page if they were trying to keep it a secret.
Yeah, Mike, that info was already posted three days ago in this thread. I guess we'll see if Carvin is going to offer the P pickup option, but as Handyman said, I doubt it would have found it's way to the Facebook page if it was a company secret. If it was a one-off prototype, I think it would have stayed under wraps.
I don't think Carvin's trying to keep it a secret, gentlemen; it's just not making it obvious and/or easy. They're marketing the PB as a new model - which it is. But there are subtle design differences between it and the tried-and-true B series, and I'd argue that what the B has over the more classic PB (more jazz-like neck dimensions, no pickguard, 2 extra frets on the 4-string) would cut into the PB's sales if the split P pickup were an easy-to-order option - at this early stage in the PB's life, anyway.
The greatest thing about Carvin is that just about any option is possible if you call.

No - bass was in the case - no extra protection. Case placed in box with cardboard/plastic film end pieces to hold case in place.
Mine was an in-stock. Maybe they treat custom orders differently.
BTW - the Translucent Blue Pearl is awesome - see through with little sparkles in it.
Bass plays well - action was set a touch too low for me. Wide variety of tones - from deep thumpy P bass to bright and snappy!

Very nice! and the new soft case looks perfect and a welcome change to the obligatory Carvin hard-shell.
