New Dean Dimebag Bass

Check this thing out... Dean has come out with a new Dimebag Bass. I have no idea why they did this, and I personally think its kinda stupid, but hey, thats IMO. Also, why on earth are they trying to sell this thing for $800?! Nothing on this bass adds up to that much cash, I could think of so many other much better options! Dimebag was an amazing guitar player but I think Dean made a mistake by producing this. Anyways... what do you guys think of it?

Washburn did one too...

I have a friend who has a limited edition Washburn Dime Crown Royal bass. Bass is transparent Black, flame top, set neck, ebony fretboard, no fret markers, bartolini jazz pick-ups, active pre, and a crown royal inlay on the headstock.

The case is purple, with gold interior, and had a compartment for a 5th of crown and 2 shot glasses...

Personally I wouldnt own it, but he likes it. plus he got it for $500, and had it appraised at $2500......:eek:

i love dime, but dean is just taking this thing too far. they were selling dimebag candles for goodness sake. at least the new merch with him on it has some of the proceeds going to his memorial foundation. that being said, i'd rather have one of these than a entry level bc rich, but $800 is probably a bit high for this thing, imho of course..... fwiw its not named directly after him (even though the body was his design), its called the razorback bass*.

*edit: i see musicians friend is selling it as the "dime razorback bass"

What's the big deal?

It says it was designed by Dimebag to be the "ultimate metal bass." So, assuming the copy is correct, what's wrong with a company coming out with a bass simply because the designer died?

As for the price, I'd imagine that body style takes extra time to finish. And, it's a neck through with a 35" scale. For under $1000.
Doesn't sound too bad to me.

I'm well past the age that "pointy" speaks to me, but if I were a pimply faced teen full of suburban angst into tuning down, I'd probably have been all over that.

somewhere there is a 15-year-old freaking out over this bass.

Say what you will about it, but the guys @ Dean are smart. They will not make more than they can sell. The Deaniacs are loyal, so they'll move a few of these. It's not for me, but think about it; there had to be alot of requests for this thing in order for them to make it, and some guitarists will buy one as well.

Very true. A lot of guitarists who want to get into bass will defiently be interested in this. As will the pimply faced teens like basmonkeee said. :p

for me at least, my problem lies with the fact that it wasn't designed to be a bass. dime took made some cutouts of foam and sent them to dean for an idea to update his GUITAR. he never even got to see the finished product. i think it is a mean looking guitar, but they are cashing in, plain and simple.
