I've been working hard to focus on the music rather than on the gear. But like you said it is a journey. Part of it I guess it will be stop coming to Talkbass gear threads.

Yes, stopping from coming here so often is a very good thing I'd say. I know it is exciting to talk to others about basses and etc. but when it gets to the point that it becomes more about the instruments than the music, then that's a problem, UNLESS you are in this more for the instruments, and some are, and there's nothing wrong with that. But for those more into the musician side of things, less is more when it comes to Talkbass.

I somewhat recently came back after about 2 years away. TalkBass is pretty low quality, in terms of community. The moderation isn't bad - they'll react when things are reported, but otherwise they don't appear to pay much attention and things can go on for days or weeks without them noticing. I only actively participate in this thread and the main Dingwall group thread at this point. After I started my time away, I found myself a ton more appreciative of my gear, and found myself progressing as a musician at a much more agreeable rate as well. There's probably a balance that could be found, but, I can only read so much about the new cheap flavor of the month and Dr. Cheese self-aggrandizing threads before my eyes gloss over - and it's a very very low amount :roflmao:

I like the much smaller and tighter group among us Dingwall folks. :)

It arrived this morning!

Some quick impressions: The balance is great. You will want a straight plug cable for sure. The switch was actually my biggest concern... it's pretty long with sharp corners and was ready to bite my thumb whenever I reached for the bass or treble controls. Maybe that's just a user error thing but it got me a couple of times.

But it sounds great for sure, really happy with it!

I mean, it looks just like the ones on the Dingwall site so if nothing else the preview pics were dead on.

I am going to explore some of the upgrades from Jason at FretNation though. It's just kind of funny that the thing I was most neutral about, the switch, is now the top of my list. The tuners work fine but actual Hipshots would look nicer. The knobs are... functional? But I really like to have indicators on them. Actually seems vital for the pickup selector.

Yes, then after the upgrades we'll definitely need pictures!

How do you like the bridge "saddles"? I mean they work perfectly, just a little weird having the string rest between two screw heads. That worries me a bit, though it has not caused any issues.

The switch is not an issue for me, though I kind of agree about the lack of pickup indicator. But I imagine after becoming used to it, it will feel natural as far as which pickup selection we are in. Lot's of knobs don't have any kind of numbering or indicators on them.
