New DR neon strings

I just saw this thread. I have bright yellow's on my Fender Am. Dlx. P-Bass.

Everyone that sees them comes over and talks about how cool they are. I was in Guitar Center with the bass and strings, and had to answer a lot of questions about them lol! People Really like them.

My bass is natural maple color. The strings make is look great. I would not put them on a Fodera :rollno: but for an almost white P-Bass they are killer. And they play very well!

Edit: Tried to attach a photo but cant get it sized correctly yet.
Edit Again lol: There ya go bro. I tried to do a bigger one but it would not take. Hope you like it. It looks better with the whole bass.

Right before I clicked onto the this thread I was wondering which color would make my natural 55-01 look cool. I started recording some dance music last week and when I saw this thread I started imagining how good it would look playing in a cool dance club. After a second or two and thinking about which color MIGHT look good on a natural finish, I was wondering about...........yellow. Crazy that the very last comment and the first comment I read was from someone with a natural finish saying how good yellow looks ! Mine has a yellowishness to it anyway so I bet it would look good.

Cool Man !

Ah, I really wish there was a red. I have a MusicMan SUB that's red (that matte texture), and I don't think green, yellow, pink or orange would look all that great. I have a black Aerodyne Jazz that I'm definitely going to put some on, but the SUB is my main bass right now.

Currently have Black Beauties on there though, and I LOVE them.

Here is the best way I can think of getting the RED color across...

If you have a set of Hi-Beams, or Sunbeams, the DR Red Devils matches the Red on those packages... HOWEVER, due to what I assume is printing or age of packages, the red may vary slightly...

This image I hope is an accurate representation of the DR Red Devils "Red"

Arrrrgh they're so pretty! Why must they feel so funny!? *cries*

Have you played coated strings before? I went from Red Devils to Black Beauties to DR Neon's and they all felt the same to me. Loved them all, but the neon strings look ridiculous! Really fun to play under a black light, and they look awesome under stage lights too...

Sucks that they aren't working out for you.

I have played coated strings before, Elixers and DR Black Beauties. They felt a little soft and gummy, but I could deal with that. This new K3 coating actually squeaks under my fingers if I run my hand perpendicular to the string. It's like chewing foil, nails on a chalkboard, etc.

...loosely packed snow under your feet. Yeah, that sucks. I wouldn't use them either if that were the case.

I've had my yellow's on for 5 or 6 months and they sound as good as when i installed them.
Although I have only played them in practice they do have a different feel you need to adjust to, but they are very good strings and look awesome.

sunbeams with k3 coating... Magical ideal!!!
And sunbeams hvin an amazing sound anyway!

BTW, here's what luthier Bud LeCompte says about DR Sunbeams:

Q. Why do you use DR Sunbeam strings and can I get something else installed on my bass?

A. I think the Sunbeams are probably the most sonically pure string I've heard to date. The nickel plating keeps things smoothed out.

Although the tone and feel of DR Hi-Beams are still at the top of my list, Neons are great strings as well. Hopefully, DR will release a Hi-Beams Neon set in the future.

Hi-gloss polished nails on a chalkboard. Feels like nail polish, especially when fingers are sweaty or during hot and sticky weather. Tried the exact same coated strings as you and massively disliked the feel of both. The sparkly mess they make as the coating flakes off is a PITA to clean. Builds up along the frets, in the gap around pickups, and worst in the bridge and saddle springs.

but,
OOHhhh SHINY  looks great on stage

Yeah I'll probably be buying those. Haha. And definitely some Neons for my Aerodyne. You can probably expect an order in a few days...haha.

Thanks for the help!
