New DR neon strings

^^^ Unless they've changed, I would stay way, way away from the Auroras. I picked up a set about three years ago for guitar and bass and they were awful. Deader than flats, no sustain, no punch, and all string rattle.

I don't think they've changed then. I had a set on my P bass for a few weeks now and they're coming off as soon as I get a chance to get to the music store again.

Ordered my first Neons yesterday got one of each color early xmas present from my wife.

I've got a set of greens on my highway one P in wine red, with a red tort guard and bridge/pickup covers, it's got a super cool vibe with the awkwardness of bright green strings haha. I've got a new neck coming in (Darn tech ruined my truss rod.. grr) and it's the blocked/bound 70s p bass ri neck. Can't wait to see how that looks.

Got a couple sets of yellow for change of pace color for my warlock. Havent decided if I have a pref for it or green on the bass. Lol.

Why doesn't DR make the Neons in a lighter gauge?

I literally JUST found out that they are available in all 4 colors 40-100!!!

Oh snap! My Spector gets Sunbeams 40-100....and we may have a New Year's Eve gig....I see multi-colored strings on the Spector if the gig gets the go ahead!

Just installed my 3rd set of DR Neon's and still can't get over how awesome they are. Same tone as I got out of my beloved Black Beauties, and they look ridiculous under a blacklight...took this pic with my iPhone...

Do they have .130's in the Neons?

Just .125 to my knowledge but I will double check...

They are not making 5 string sets with the 40-100 but you can add a single .125 to make a 5 string set.

The .125 Neon B is plenty tight on a Spector

Confirmed... Only .125

Although, they do have various K3 Black Beauty B Strings:

Low B: .125
Taper Low B: .120
Taper Low B: .125
Taper Low B: .130

These strings are pretty cool. Never used them, but would be a cool novelty and could look sick on the right basses. I have been faithful to my strings I have been using for years...hard for me to change no matter how pretty the colors though.

While i think these are cool, I wish i could still get my Peacock blue for my Thunderbird. It looked So good with those on! If you are reading this DR strings, pleas e bring those back! Or make a neon blue, but a turquoise blue or teal. not light blue. ^.^

But the neons are pretty cool! Look good on some basses, abd on others.

I didn't have time to read every single poost, but to set sommething clear that a lot of posters don't seem to know is the Neons are Nickel wound on round core like Sunbeams, the Black Beauties are Stainless Steel wound on a round core like Hibeams. They will not compare tone wise, so if you didn't like Black Beauties, you might still like Neons and vice versa.

All DR K3 Coated Strings are Nickel Plated Steel with Round Cores like Sunbeams.

The only K3 Coated Strings that are not like this are the Taper Core Black Beauty Low-B strings which are Stainless Steel Round Wound over Hex Cores.
