I am confirming that the Bass Clone is dead silent and that there is no significant volume boost or drop. If you add more bass or highs the pedal may seem to be a little louder but it's a very small increment.
Comparing it with the EH Small Stone and the Boss BF-2 was interesting. Note the Bass Clone is a Chorus, the Boss BF-2 a flanger and the Small Stone a phaser. They are listed here in the theoretical level of intensity, a phaser being more extreme and a chorus being more subtle.
The Boss is very different in tone than the other 2, it's colder sounding and you can hear the phase a lot more. This pedal boosts volume but it works well because it offsets the flange.
The EH Small Stone and Bass Clone have some tonal territory in common, one can hear they come from the same company. The Small Stone is the warmer sounding of the two, it's a one trick pony but what a trick. The Bass Clone offers more versatility and it sounds warmer than the BF-2 but not quite as warm as the Small Stone.
If you're a Cure guy, the BF-2 is the way to go. If you lean towards Joy Division, New Order, the Bass Clone is a perfect pedal. I would not be surprised to see Peter Hook with one, replacing his vintage stuff. Ultimately these three pedals kind of do the same thing and offer pretty similar tones so it's a question of personal taste and the music you play. If you only going to own one of these three pedals, the Bass Clone would be my selection because of the rich features.

(i currently own a CT). Hooky has said that the reissue is a tamer version of the vintage CT, can the bass clone get even more radicle into the same sonic territory of the vintage CT?
