New EHX Pedal!

Cool- thanks for the info, Bill. I've been waiting for one of these for a long time- I've been making due with using both my Looperlative and going the delay route, but a momentary hold is a more elegant and quick solution. I'll hopefully be able to pop one of this right onto a blank spot on my MIDI controller as soon as they're available.

Eh- they'll just sound like long notes :D The one thing I'm hoping for is that it doesn't have the same degree of noise the Z. Cat Hold pedal has in the soundclips I heard for it.

this is the answer to my prayers. my band often tosses around the idea of adding keys for synths to make our breakdowns bigger. no longer needed. i play a chord, use this to hold it, disengage when said breakdown is over. no key player needed.

ohhhh man. no i dont have to go all geddy and play 50 things at once. SO stoked on this

One quick question here that I don't know has an obvious answer, but hre goes ... When you are holding dowm the momentary switch, and the note is 'frozen', can you carry on playing something else and it passes both signals?

yes. manual says the the dry signal volume is untouched, the level control is for the frozen signal only. you now have an infinite sustained note to play over.

if you're good enough, you can use it as your rhythm instrument for solos. somehow work the progression into the lead part and freeze the changes in time. this thing is going to be an art form.

jack conte is going to have a field day.

This pedal is now at the top of my GAS list :hyper:

This is the best news ever! I didn't think another company would make something like this, and I'm very excited to see EHX doing it, especially in a Nano size.

I take it this will be like the Boss DD-3 hold mode? I know someone mentioned the DD-6, but that's more of a looper. It records the notes, yes? So if I played three notes, it will record them in a kind of choppy fashion?

earlier in the thread, Bill Ruppert (the EHX Effectology guy) said that they take a much shorter sample than the Boss, and then smooth it out, so that its not choppy. That way, it sounds more like just an insanely long held note.

If it's the same as the HOG's freeze feature (which I assume it is) then it won't record the notes. It'll sample the note (or chord) you play and hold it. It's NOT a phrase recorder as such. More of a sample and hold type device.

It will sustain whichever note is sounding when you hold the switch. It will ramp in and out of that note, but not gliss.

So if I played three notes, it will record them in a kind of choppy fashion?

No. It'll hold the first note and any other notes you play will sound over the top.
