New Empress Compressor MKII

When you have them open, side by side, many of the components they advert on the older larger BCP1 are simply not there, not to say the quality of what they used isn't good (they still advertise everything is top notch), its just different. I've A/B'd them and only had to turn the Jr. up to get the output in unison, so if theres a difference, I can't hear it. I can't confirm there is a switch to defeat the EQ and enable the 4.8 kHz hi-cut filter in the Jr. as well, as there is that option in your model (it is nice to completely remove the EQ circuit if you just want modeling from your preamp). Unless you're super stretched for space I'd keep the BCP1, I know I am.

Wait, there is a switchable hi-cut filter in the BCP1? How did I never know that. I don't remember seeing anything in the manual about that. I just sold mine so I now I'm curious where the switch was on the one I had. I'm guessing enabled.

Let me check when I get home, there is definitely one in the in the CPR - I had all three at one point, still have the bass comp. I've read that its there but haven't put eyes on the switch of the bass model

I didn't either, but I think there are a bunch of different 'types' of colorblindness that have very different effects in the ability to see/differentiate colors.
Ive just heard people that claim to be color blind, have a hard time reading the text, and blame the color format, but that aside it is most definitely hard to see in low light conditions. The new models have much better contrast

Thank you for posting this picture! Looks like I'll be keeping my big box around (until the reviews for this new empress start rolling out...).

Not my photo, but I can take a picture if you like when I get home of the older model. I bought the large guitar and bass models along with the bass jr., out of the 3 I like the older bass one the most. I also use an Empress though, from what I've bought and played around with I like the Empress for its transparency, almost studio quality compression, and with the slightest adjustment of the EQ the Diamond for some flavor/warmth. I knew if I was to keep 2 compressors they need to be completely opposite or one simply wouldn't get used. With this tilt EQ the new empress has it could take some of Diamonds light
