So no longer a input for sidechain? variable filter would have been nice, especially when competing with the Cali CB. Looks good though, less input lights, looks like a cross between the old one and the 500 series in size. Hopefully it retained the good components, I just got a Diamond Bass and comparing the insides with a Jr. were surprising. What's up the TONE nob? did they add a EQ ?

I did the "solder a capacitor to a TRS pancake plug" thing that Empress suggests and didn't really notice a difference. I am wondering if the two frequencies chosen work that well for bass rather than guitar?

Also, *fewer* input lights. :D

Yeah, I too tried the cap idea, 3 difference values. I was working on a POT/TRS plug idea but just broke down and bought a Broughton HPF. I can tell a big difference when its plugged in (the Broughton), especially when compressing a deep channel. I think it helps to be able to adjust it to your particular preamp/bass. You can tell a lot on the Cali CB as well. As long as they don't come out with a JR./Nano down the road, there's only so far you can minimize with analog

What was suprising about the diamond comparison? I have been wondering about the quality difference between the standard and junior version. I have the old big version, and I'm tempted by the size of the junior yet skeptical of the price difference.

When you have them open, side by side, many of the components they advert on the older larger BCP1 are simply not there, not to say the quality of what they used isn't good (they still advertise everything is top notch), its just different. I've A/B'd them and only had to turn the Jr. up to get the output in unison, so if theres a difference, I can't hear it. I can't confirm there is a switch to defeat the EQ and enable the 4.8 kHz hi-cut filter in the Jr. as well, as there is that option in your model (it is nice to completely remove the EQ circuit if you just want modeling from your preamp). Unless you're super stretched for space I'd keep the BCP1, I know I am.
