I agree with this. I think the DI is actually a low impedance mutli-pin out type deal, but you would need a stereo 1/4" jack to XLR to make it work (I think). That's not a good thing if you actually want to use this head's DI in a live situation (not many of those cables around).

I guess the simplest thing would be to make up a short cable with a stereo 1/4" to female XLR end to use with it. It wouldn't take up much room, and you could feed a standard mic cable at the venue.

I agree, they obviously are trying to save space, and a six inch cable might not be allot to carry but in a world where there are very few standards this is one we've become accustomed to.

We had Invalid Link Removed made up for us. I don't see it as a big deal, but also would have been just as excited about the Micro if it had been an inch wider with an XLR jack.

+1 I think that sometimes design out weighs function. It's certianly a trend now days to try and make things smaller and smaller, but you do get to a point of "diminishing returns". I'd be just as happy with the D.I. on the back of the unit so they could use a XLR out. But that would probably cause a redesign of the head. If you compare the Micro 300 to the Doubler it's pretty obvious that most of the controls are in the same place with the XLR, Notch, and Phase added in at the beginning of what I would assume to be the signal chain.

There is that little Raxxess angled metal mount so players can mount their preamp (like a DTAR or old Raven) on a mic stand for easy access. May as well put a Micro on a mic stand at eye level... it's small enough. I am loving this smaller gear. When bass amps weigh less than my hand truck it's time for a celebration.

That's a great idea especially if you have a tiny cabinet way down on the floor and are sitting down playing in enclosed quarters.

Generally though carrying around a mic stand negates the microness somewhat.

A few clarifications.

First off - I want to publicly thatnk both Mike Arnopol and Bob Gollihur for their tremendous input in the design phase of the Doubler. To answer your questions:

1. The variable Phase affects only channel 2.
2. The DI is a low impedance design. Your assumptions were right, we just had no room to put in an XLR. Bob's breakout cable is the elegant (simple) solution
3. It will not be similar to any AI product. The power section and most importantly the preamp is a totally different design
4.There is a high pass filter
5. Our pots do have a more linear taper. It doesn't matter what "clock setting" you set the amp at - just do what sounds right regardless of any preconceived notions on where the input gain or master gain should be set.

Hope this helps. I should have actual pictures of the doubler in the few days. If anyone wants to see it, let me know.
