New Fender Antigua models...

Everything I have read says they are the same picks as used in the Roadworn series.

I have no idea if they are the same as the standard MIM. If I can take a wild guess, I suspect not as it seemed that a whole lot of people liked the Roadworn alnicos and I did not read as many enthusiastic comments regarding standard MM series PU's.

Like the gentleman stated above, if the bass feels good in your hands, has satisfactory fit and finish, and the body resonates better than a wet towell, then we are all just a pair of after market pick ups away from having a more than gig worthy bass in a really funky color.

If they sound anything like the roadworns, that tone should keep the majority of folks smiling.

It's interesting to me how people's opinions can differ. It's even more interesting to me that some people feel the uncontrollable urge to bash something others obviously think is awesome. I wonder what causes those impulses.

There are lots of basses and finishes I think are butt ugly, and others drool over. I don't think I've ever yet felt the need to tell them how ugly I thought they were. People like different things. Can you imagine? What a crazy world we live in, huh.

At motor city guitar in Michigan they had the precision and jazz, maple necks one piece, the finger boards and necks were nicely finished, great quality, Mexican made yes, but closer to the Japanese Fender quality. And in person they look great

It's just another type of burst finish. Not stunning, but not terrible. Now, if Fender took the Marauder design and made it into a P/J set up that would be nice.

Musiciansfriend, Music123, American Musical, Zzounds - 1st 2 are the same company, same for the 2nd 2. Sweetwater is out of em already, and I'm pretty sure this really is a super limited run. I emailed Fender and asked why they've taken it down from their site. I will be astounded if I get a response.

Nobody's anwered my question about the Jazz pickups yet. Are they noisy? Do I need to start researching replacement pickups? I'm not a fan of noisy pickups.

Got my P off ebay. Still a buncha P's and J's available there.

Mine plays and sounds as good as my Hwy One, which is pretty darn good.

Can't help you with the Jazz Pickups - I got the Precision - Yes, it's a limited run and most places are already out of them. If I recall, it was 250 of each.

Played mine this weekend and got a lot of "Hey!!" responses...most folks really liked the color. Sounded great and was a pleasure to play!

The consensus seems to be that they're just as good as the MIAs. I had a couple of MIAs that were complete horror shows. Not sure why you're holding them to the MIA standard, as with Fender it always seem to be a crapshoot anyhow. If they were MIA they'd be asking about $1000 more. That made in mexico stamp on the back of the headstock don't scare me none.

I can honest to gosh state categorically that they are not as good as MIAs......but they aren't bad at all. Very nice quality, in general. I'm pleased that I grabbed the Precision....
