new flea bass

how ugly for 1!

and is this not a slight ripoff of both the mm and a little bit of the fb4?

im guessing this is why modulus changed the name of the fb4 aswell as alot of other things as the company name of his new basses is fleabass.

wot do you ppl think.

Modulus changed the name long before the current FleaBass came out.

Ripoff? Looks similar, but there are only so many variations you can do with a double cutaway....

Are these things out there yet? This is like the umpteenth thread on em and I want to know if anyoen has actually played one yet. I'm voting for its cheap junk overpriced due to the name attached with a clever marketing scheme about "getting kids into music" and yada yada. Still, does anyone really know yet?

I don't care for Flea, but those look interesting. Flea himself must have great faith in their quality, cuz he'll be using them on tour. Mind you, he might bring a whole gross of them, but they still have to actually perform on stage. I may not care for his style, but I bet the man knows a quality insrtument when he touches it, and I just can't believe he's only trying to make a buck with these.

We'll see...

is he actually gonna play them tho, i thought he was gonna still use his mody?

There was an extenssive article in BP a couple of months ago. During the interview, Flea stated that this was ALL he would be playing on tour. Stock out of the box. I think I recall a retail price of $499 ( maybe $599 ) can't remember exactly

I think it’s really cool to see such an inspirational, high profile player endorsing an affordable instrument. Way cool. Only rich, old guys could afford the old Modulas Flea Bass. It was not accessible to all of Flea’s fans. Now, the same people that Flea inspires to pick up the bass can actually afford his pro model bass. I think this is cool and right.

doubt they'll sound anywhere near as good as the mody if he does.

I doubt he'll sound bad in any way. Put some good strings on it, run it through his rig, why wouldn't he sound like Flea?

Flea sounds like Flea whether he plays a Stingray, a vintage Fender, a Modulas, or anything else.

I'll bet he can make this bass sound as good as anything.

Don't you think maybe he played it, and thought about the tone before agreeing to play them exclusively on tour? Of course he did. Flea is a fairly sharp dude, he's certainly no dummy.

I suspect it's a descent bass, and I KNOW Flea will sound just fine playing one.

Hey, I think over here (in the U.K.) they'll be retailing for around £299.99 which is pretty cheap indeed if he really believes in them enough to tour with them...

Not to keen on the design, or the colours, but, as stated earlier, they are aimed at getting kids into music with good quality instruments, good for him I say!

Actually I've seen a lot of young guys with the Flea basses. I had great, high end gear from the age of 16 upwards (I got a Kubicki Ex-Factor when I was 16). It just depends on how hard you're willing to work!
