New FleaBass Colors! (AWESOME)

I agree with the guy up me
I hope my comment won't hurt any of you, but here's what I think:
that instrument is unplayable, and people who are purchasing it, only seem to be a flea fan, without knowing that this instrument doesn't even worth a quarter than its price. I spent time trying it, and I couldn't understand.

it's affordable, but it's the cheapest quality I've ever seen, the ugliest, the less equipped, and the driest sound ever heard

SX makes much better basses, for much less

I just need to understand how can you like that bass, really? Am I missing something about it?

Flea have had a very good signature modulus bass, I've owned 3 of them, and they are killer basses, and he wreckt the contract, to make an ''affordable bass '' for kids.
That's right, for kids, I haven't seen any grown up person on the fleabass's commercial except flea
And I'm still seing some 40 year old men buying this

I was sad seing only but kids on the fleabass's stand in MusikMess, and I'm sad my adult friend wants one, just because he's a flea fan, without even knowing that it's a plastic bass
just sad, can't get to convice him that he's making a mistake, well just can't do anything when you're blinded by your idol, if that's what it takes to make him happy, then let it be ( but he has a MusicMan StingRay, how can he want this?) :rollno:

ok, I may be a huge flea fan...but this is a GOOD bass. maybe I got lucky. but this bass is solid for me. Honestly. Own, and play one day to day before you make such a judgement call. I play it every day and it puts out a good tone from a little peavy 10w amp. It doesn't feel "plastic" or anything. its just a goofy color, and that makes it more fun. My Ibanez GSR200 doesn't sound as good as this with DiMarzio pickups in it. So...don't be so quick to judge if you don't own the bass.

We don't have to own one to pass judgment on one. Most of us here know what we're looking for in a bass and spend a good deal of time in the store playing a bass before we buy it. If the bass has obvious defects that are unacceptable for any price point, if it doesn't feel right or sound right to us then there is no way in hell most of us would buy it.

BTW, when the staff at the store tells me they'd avoid it, that also tells me a good deal about the bass.

Whatever, if a Fender P bass doesn't fit what I'm looking for, does it make it a bad bass?
And what are the "obvious" defects? Like I said, I've had this bass since November and it plays great. Yeah, the pickguard is glued one. But lets look at everything else...stock p/up is good, good variety of tones from it. The tuning heads, nut, and bridge are all good. The bass stays in tune for a long time, and the neck is very playable.

Also, here's the aforementioned David...
(Kansas!! So yes, this bass is versatile)

Wow. Whoda thunked it that a Flea bass thread could cause this much controversy.. so if we're talking heated subjects, whats better, a P or a J??

Very little controversy.

Most people here are in general agreement that these basses are of poor quality in relation to their price, and they lack some of the basic features (like screws) that one would assume they have. Like any production bass, there is going to be gems and lemons, and based on the opinions of the masses here (and myself, as well), there seems to be far more of the latter than the former.

It seems more like NorCal Dog is just in the mood for a pissing contest than there being any actual controversy here.

Tried one of these out in my local store and, for the price, I was vastly underwhelmed. I have found the SXs that I've owned to be on the same level (at the very least) from an overall quality perspective, but for much less money.

As someone stated, these likely apply to younger Flea fans, which is fine. I don't fault anyone for making, marketing, selling or buying them. I only know that I wouldn't buy one.

Not a fan of the look of those things (even the new colors), but to each their own, I guess.

Where I DO have a problem with them is the fact that from what I hear (can't say I've played one myself,) the quality doesn't even come NEAR justifying the price, to say the least.
