My "white" Labella tapewounds have been installed on #256 Clement fretless. Immediately felt the slipperiness of the strings as each was pulled from its envelope. Love the coppery orange color of the silk end wraps. Strung it up BEADGCF...The sound is very soft in quality (not volume) which fits my fretless style quite well. The strings exhibit finger control wonderfully, from mwah to harder plucking towards the bridge. Have yet to play with the band but looking forward to that. This is the first time I have enjoyed tape wounds this much. Did I mention slippery? Must be mindful of pitch more so with these as compared to the "blacks" because you can so easily lose place because of the lubricated non-sticky characteristic of the "whites".
Very different indeed. I can see the stainless strings but I hear the nylon. Totally different sound. I was surprised by what I initially heard but pleasantly pleased. Thanks, LaBella.

Very slippery. Almost too slippery. But they're the most fingernoiseless strings I've ever played.
Any chance on being able to confirm a reliable length for the B string on an extra long scale 6 string set? I'm kind of wondering how these would sound on my Dingwall. Although those funny gauges are making me a little nervous...
Hmm, ball to nut on the bass is technically about 38.x", so could be borderline. If there was a 40" version that would pretty much eliminate all uncertainty.

If those black 40" ones materialized, and if they came in light gauge (not sure my bass' nut can handle a .115 E string), I wouldn't say no to picking up a set of those, just to give them a try.
I put the 760T White Nylon Tapes on my 63AVP last week. I gotta say I'm loving them better than the usual La Bella 760FS that I normally use. I like the thick gauge (60-115), it makes me feel like I'm playing BASS whichever string I'm on. Sound-wise, no harsh treble (I hate that) and enough clarity and articulation for me. Comparing to black tapes is a little difficult but I think the black tapes (including the Roto 88s) are more 'plasticky' sounding whereas the white nylons seem 'softer'. Perhaps the regular La Bellas Deep Talkin' Bass have more deep fundamental (maybe) but these white nylons aren't particularly lacking there, and also have more brightness without sounding brittle. I haven't been able to put the bass down since putting them on. I think these are my new favourite La Bellas. Playing in front of the pickup or near the bridge works equally well. Nice warm tone. Great strings for classic P bass.
I would love to know this too. Anyone had experience with all three?
Now that the honeymoon period may have worn off, has anyone NOT got on with these white tapes?
I like the idea that they would be kind to a fretless rosewood board but I'm kind if afraid to lose the growl I get from Fender CL flats. Any (upright-like) growl at all from these?
I am thinking of trying a set on my Rob Allen fretless which has the standard black tapewounds.Has anybody tried them on their Rob Allen?

I'm going to string my cs 64 jazz with these. I've been using TIs but lately I've felt I could try something with bit heavier gauge. Always liked the sound of black tapes but the looks not so much.

i'll let you know once I get them. I have always liked the tension of TIs EXCEPT for the A-string. That one always seems to be a lot floppier than the others.
TIs are 043/056/070/100 in gauge while these new (light) white tapes are 050/065/085/105 so there is quite a lot of increase in thickness at least.
Okay, got the set two days ago, first impressions:
1. Tension: super low
2. Tone: to die for
The low tension kind of surprised me. I had to raise the action a bit even after TIs which are known for their low tension. Still they don't somehow feel sloppy in the same way as TIs, maybe it's because of the thicker gauge. Low tension and and smooth surface makes these strings very easy to play.
Tone is absolutely beautiful. Very full and balanced, warm sound without being muddy. Feels like these strings are really combining the zing and punch of rounds and the thump of flats in the best possible way. Sound is closer to upright sound than any flats or rounds I've tried. Very nice, my new favorite strings!
