at first my G&L in glitter sparkle blue came to mind ...

It took me a few hours to acclimate my playing to the guitar. It's very comfortable to play, and lightweight. They also sell optional clear acrylic "necks" with different neck profiles which I did not purchase.

edit: I should add that the guitar sounds amazing. My favorite guitars are Rics, and the Gittler out jangles and chimes them, and does so much more. The built in hex system is very nice, as I have a Boss GP-10. IMO / YMMV

Maybe you should learn that you will create more interest and discussion by being nice than you will by being snarky. Sometimes a bass grows on you over time, but nothing is more of a turnoff than the person promoting the bass being rude. Make no mistake, you are promoting this bass (and there is nothing wrong with that, we all want to share things we like) but your attitude reflects well or poorly on the maker. ;)

I was figuring something along those lines which completely knocks it out of my consideration. It's sad that people can't, or chose not to make novelty items like this affordable. I don't understand the thinking if it doesn't cost close to that to actually make it... Though I understand it might. At $5000 you get a couple of sales to some people who can afford them, and wind up playing them at some obscure shows. If affordable... The world gets to see, and possibly enjoy them, too. Oh hwell... Unless I hit lotto some time soon...

"NOT interested..." is not a discussion.
Also, the dis is implied.
Finally, an unqualified "I don't like that!" is not disagreeing, it's being a baby. I am all for discussion - which can't happen without disagreement, but when people feel the need to insult (dismissing without consideration is possibly the most insulting thing you can do) it does not add anything to the conversation.

I would imagine a lot of that 5000 price tag comes to cover the R&D costs. like you said it's a novelty item so the sales numbers will probably be low and targeted at those with pools of disposable income, so a higher price point makes sense under those conditions.

does suck for the average joe that would like to try it tho

It's interesting that the gittler guard (clear plastic neck back option) is $295 with a $1995 deposit - so they want to make sure you REALLY want it and then they give you the $1700 back when they deliver the 'guard.

the notion that someone needs to write a dissertation on why the don't like something is absurd.

would you really be any happier had he said "NOT interested because it looks like it fell out of a plumber's truck?" I bet you wouldn't
conversely would you be complaining if he had just said "interested?" I bet you wouldn't

I guess we'll have to disagree about that.

Anyone that thinks creating a thread, posting a picture and providing a link to the makers site isn't promoting us kidding themselves (but no one else). There's nothing wrong with that, many of us like to share something we are enthusiastic about.

For the record - I find those almost as helpful. But an unqualified "yes" in any form is still more productive than an unqualified "no".
Both are trumped by a useful comment in either direction.

These are made of titanium, not many instrument makers working with that material... In addition to the titanium skills needed, I think titanium is rather expensive too. I will say, the workmanship, fit and finish on my Gittler guitar are amazing, like a finely crafted katana IMO.

I'm very interested in new instrument forms and high tech, if possible I will do what I can to support makers of gear I dig.

Well, he's wrong that he's not "promoting" it. But the implication when you say that is he's doing it for some alterior motive other than he's really excited and that's (probably) unfair.

If that was not implied than, fine, I was wrong and apologize for inferring motive where there was none.
I will stand by the point that saying someone is "promoting" something suggests (however unintentionally) that they are working for them in some way.
