New Gittler Basses!

Weren't the originals back in the 80s stainless or aluminum?
I really would like to get one of those some day and that would make them much more approachable - Titanium is VERY expensive.

Not sure about the originals, what they were made of. I do remember seeing pictures of them way back when, never dreamed about owning one...I think 60 originals were made, then another company made them but they were not true to the original design IIRC. I was very happy to see these are being made again.

My Gittler guitar is the single most expensive gear purchase I've ever made, so it was a leap of faith (and desire) on my part. I thought I was done, and I was (though I was looking for a 4 string fretless, either Ric 4003 or Steinberger L composite)...until I saw that Gittler 4-string fretless in the OP drool ...I'm looking for some gear (even my motorcycle) to sell now! :help:

So we can agree - THIS is the best bass for metal.
Or rather THIS

is the best metal for bass.;)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ;)

You could always get some Elmer's and glitter for your Gittler. Make it pretty :)

(sarcasm)
Actually - I'm sure Gittler sould use some high-techy lazer etching to make the entire instrument permanently "glittery" without affecting the playability or sound and that would be way more in line with his tech-aesthetic (if not his visual minimalist one)

yes, I'm not sure what's possible. Seems there are many possibilities with this material for instrument designs. I really like designs that push the definition of the instrument. Like the Stash bass, but I'd like a more minimal body design...like my Steinbergers...IMO the Gittler takes this to the next level.

I still dig the Ric 4001/4003...I can only imagine the perception / reception and what that looked like to bassists when it was first introduced (before my time).

like a finely crafted katana IMO

If it will hold an edge, that option could come in handy at some bars I've played in.

Nobody's going to play Mustang sally on THAT thing.

Wait... Do you mean that nobody is going to play Mustang Sally on that thing, or that Nobody is going to play Mustang Sally on that thing? I'm confused.

It kinda looks like a bundle of tent poles, but interesting just the same. Are they awkward to play? I can't imagine playing something without a fretboard.

Tent poles?
Mmm-hmm.
You already have a tent?
Well, you give me the model number on the tent, I can order you the poles.
Nah, never mind. I want a tent.
Well, what kinda tent?
The kind with the most poles.

wow this place is interesting, perhaps I've been away too long as I don't remember it being like this?

As far as "promoting" gear I dig, which is what I thought part of posting on gear forums is about, I posted a pic of an innovative new bass I dig, and link to make it easier for those interested to find without having to go search for it. No good deed goes unpunished.

Things are certainly "different" in bass land, and I thought guitarists had thin skin sheesh.

I own a Gittler guitar, so I'm speaking from experience, and I put my money where my mouth is by buying one. Hopefully a few here will find the Gittler basses interesting, maybe a few will buy one.

edit: Doesn't matter to me, it takes no food off my table what they sell or don't sell. I could care less what gear you own, use, want etc. but I always like to hear about new gear and discuss gear I own or interested in owning / considering purchasing. YMMV

The 4-string fretless is at the top of my gear list for next year. If I happen to get a Gittler bass, I'll be sure to post a NBD; maybe elsewhere though. :smug:
Uhh... Pardon me for being Mr. obvious, but it seems you're the only one being thin skinned here. You posted something new and different. Doing that will illicit lots of varied responses. We're quite an active lively bunch, yea know.
